This guy (forgot his name) ....
He’s Mike Pennington, Meg’s corporate Director of Training and Customer Relations.

He’s obviously an excellent instructor and, not surprisingly, does incredible work.

PC.

Yeah, I've been watching these over the past few weeks. It slowly gives me the courage to attempt wetsanding. :)

I know he says that the PC isn't a good tool for taking out sanding marks, but I'm sure I've seen it done by some here. Guess it all depends on the marks, products used, paint, etc. But I'm pretty sure I've seen it done.

Those are some of the better videos on detailing at YouTube. Others are downright scary. :nervous2: :bolt

Some have done it, its much easier w/ a rotary. I did some testing yesterday, 5"yellow CCS and SFX-1. it seemed to remove most of the scratches after 2-3 passes but also added some as well. I'm pretty new so not sure if its me? I used the orange 5"ccs and it ran smoother for me. I didnt go all the way to finish but I believe that it can do it,well if you have lots of time! Again this was 1yr old clear and paint hardness/type can effect the results.

So anyway,now I'm buying a rotary and more supplies$$$

I wonder if you took it another step with a white pad would it have gone to finish?

But yeah, I'm thinking more and more about stepping up to a rotary myself. I'll get there soon enough.

Enjoy your new toys!

Oh, and thanks for the vids MaximusZTS! :xyxthumbs

Seems like he knows a thing or two about how to operate a rotary. However, I believe he needs to learn some about the capabilities of a D/A buffer. It is much more capable than he lead those students to believe. It can easily remove 2500 grit sandpaper marks and finish as well or nearly as well as the rotary.

That's really going to depend on how hard the paint is. Sanding marks on harder paints can be tough to remove with a rotary, wool and heavy compound.

Im in the middle of a wetsanding job right now using 2500 and to be honnest i wouldnt even think about using my PC to remove the scratches.

I was going to give this thread a bump, but LangMan beat me too it while I was watching the videos. I really like how the rep explains what is causing certain things. Explaining how the pad coming off the paint on an edge is generating less friction than when its coming on the paint because of the rotation is a really nice touch.

Great vids, should be required for everyone before they step up to a rotary.
