Used PC

I have been scouring Pawn Shops in my travels hoping to find a used PC CHEAP. This morning I spotted a 7336 which I believe is the same as 7424 except set up for sanding instead of polishing. The thing is a little dusty from its past sanding duty but I tried it, and it runs OK. I am trying to determine if I should pick this up or not. I can get it for $50-$60 but, then I have to buy the polishing pads, etc.

My question is what does everyone think about the price? Also, regarding pads, it appears that either new or used I would have to buy the backing pad, and then foam pads, is this correct? Do the foam pads attach with Velcro?

Thanks for the help guys, trying to save a few bucks....I have a kid starting college in the fall.

The price is about 1/2 of new which is probably about right for a used unit. Don't be bashful about a little haggling in a pawn shop. You might even get it for less. The velcro backing plate, a few velcro backed pads, and you should be good to go.
The 7336 is the same basic unit as the 7424 except for accessories.

I think that $50 is a good price for a used PC and that were it me I'd buy it and then call Dwayne and tell him what I've got and let him sell me the correct kit for polishing. He'll treat you right and you'll have what you need. Have fun. They work great.

I have only one major concern:
If it was used for sanding duty prior to being pawned then you have to be sure to get it CLEAN INSIDE AND OUT! Dust will come out while polishing and wood dust will not enhance your finish job...

Otherwise, nice find and ask them how long it's been sitting around or look at the price tag to see if it's been hanging out a while. You can use that as leverage to haggle the price down!
Good luck

The thing has been there since December 2001. I tried to get him down to $40 but he would go no lower than $60. I am going to go back some other time, and try to catch some other manager there. I can't believe the guy wouldn't deal anymore than that considering how long they had been sitting on it. He kept saying "This is $125 new", $60 is half price. Like no warranty, or manual, or wrench, etc, plus being used is the same as brand new.

It's $109, new, at Lowe's. With a warranty, manual, wrench and a polishing pad. He probably feels he's got you on the string now, and thinks you want it bad enough you will pay his price. Just leave it for a week or two, if they don't want to take your offer, start saving for a new one.:)

Maybe stop by and browse in a couple of weeks and not even bring it up. Then a week or two later browse again and remark that he's still got it and offer $40 again. ...or $30. Given that you'd been shopping for one you probably acted excited when you found it and he knew he had the hook set right from the start.

I hit pawn shops all of the time, so I actually played it pretty cool. I will hit them at a later time, and try to get another manager, or maybe just buy a new one. I did check Lowe's tonight, and they have the 7336SP with the sanding plate, and polishing pad for $109 as stated above. Pretty good deal.
