Used cars in TX, amazing!(?)

Has anyone been looking at used cars on eBay? There seem to be crazy good cars in TX. Maybe it is their detailers and the guys who take the photos, but wow!

Five-year old 7 series cars for the price of a new Accord; great looking sports cars with low mileage for 20K, etc. Why would anyone buy a new low-midrange new car when you could have something this special?

Is it that lots of people in TX lease their cars and then they get dumped on the market--and there is no local market for them? Is it the favorable climate which keeps the cars nice?

From all the great feedback for the dealers from buyers all over the country, I'm thinking my next car I'll buy there, sight unseen, and have it shipped.

I'd recommend doing more research first. I heard an explanation about this a couple of years ago and I don't remember exactly, but it had to do with the state laws in Texas and vehicle sales. I don't "think" they're required to report certain damage like vehicles in floods, etc. I may be wrong but it was something like that.

Sorry I can't be more specific, I just can't remember the details right now.

Gulf Coast beware of rust (ambient salt and hi humidity) :scared. The beauty may only be skin deep. ;)

Hail = repair plus re-paint = decreased value.

I think the comment thrown out there about not having to reporting damage to the vehicle is not to far off...be sure to check it out.

I've been trying to find something on Google. I hate it when I can remember something. Drives me nutz. Sorry guys.

That is one nice thing when I looked for a used car where I live. No such thing as rust here : D

Same here in rural southwestern VA.!! :bounce

And I know RUST. I grew-up and lived in New England for over 40 years.

I used to go to many dealers selling salvaged cars. It seemed that about half of the inventory (different dealers, different times) was from Texas.

You mean there are cars that exist without rust?!? With all the salt and snow and crap we get up here, i honestly think there are maybe 2 dozen cars in the whole city of 12000 ppl that dont have rust on em somewhere.

A car that was deemd totaled here in Illinois cannot be fixed up and resold witha clear title only a salvage title. Let's say your pristine 10 year old was merely bashed up a little--you get a check but cannot get the car.

Many are shipped out of state, fixed and retitled witha clean title
