I use the Collinite products - shocking! (that I top w/ either Nattys or Souveran), Blitz, #16, FinishKare Pink Wax, 3M Perfect-It Paste Wax, and Carnauba Moose (that I top with a paste wax). I like to top these pastes with OCW too for the fun of it.



I just don't get durability with any sealant that I've used (never used Zaino). Maybe it's the acid rain in NJ. Don't get me wrong, they look great (as does anything with a prepped finish), but it's the durability factor that leads me away from them.



I'm still trying to sell my UPP, Wolfgang, Blackfire and EX-P! See the "Trading Post"!! :lol
 
I have the same impression about UPP. After 2-3 weeks, the wow factor is gone.

However, I am not saying that after 2-3 weeks, UPP is no longer protecting the car - this, I cannot readily ascertain.

I guess the super slickness of UPP is a double-edge sword.
 
New paint WILL bead water because there should be no contaminants in or on the paint. If the car is dirty, obviously the beads will be flat and irregular.



New paint should be smooth, with little to no contamination, which means that the cohesive forces of the water molecules (holding together) will be stronger than any adhesive forces contributed by contaminants (dirt pulling on water molecules). The more adhesive forces you have (whether it's dirty paint or contaminated paint), the worse your beads will be. Uncontaminated paint with no dirt on it will show very tight, uniform-sized beads.



Another thing I wanted to mention:

I always QD every 3 days or so, so that will have an effect on the slickness as well. Typically you're feeling the slickness of the QD anyway, so it doesn't matter a whole lot which LSP you have underneath.
 
I have had similiar problems in the past with UPP, however, I tended to blame it on soap residue after I bathe the car. But since I apply UPP coats frequently and in between use UGE, I rarely noticed.
 
With the creation of spray booster type of products, everyone is going to win :)



I have DP's spray sealant one, and it makes a very noticable difference, so i would imagine most all the ones being made will also.



The spray products will only get better and better too.



I would imagine, pretty soon, lsp's will be applied with a squirt or 2 :)



So, while a selants slickness is a very real criteria, it will become second to its supporting booster spray supporting product.



If UPP's spray partner is as slick as UPP itself, that is going to be a very hard combo to out-do.

I guess it's the "ultimate" for 3 weeks only. The label doesn't mention a time frame. :LOLOL
 
I find that the shine and water beading properties of UPP last for a long time (several months - at least). But, the slickness does go away relatively soon. I usually QD it with PB's S & G and that restores the slickness nicely.



One thing about UPP: It is so ridiculously easy to use that you could give your car a new coat every few weeks.

That's basically what I do with the S8. I think of the UPP on the S8 the same way I consider Souveran on the JXS- I like it and it's easy to use, so I just reapply as needed.
 
UPP is strictly for reflective looks and GREAT slickness. Don't plan on using it during any harsh seasons, my last layer lasted only 3-4 weeks down here in Texas. For winter I'm using #16, looks almost as good, not as slick, but durability is GREAT!!!

I must have a rare case here, because I feel UPP is one of the longer lasting sealants out there. It does lose some slickness after a wash or two, but a little QD restores it right back. The slickness has nothing to do with durability in this case. UPP was still beading (and great looking!) after 2 months of semi-harsh conditions. And of course, you can't beat the ease of use!



It is definitely one of my favorite products.

Can I ckeck with you, when you mentioned UPP was still beading after 2 months, were the water beads small and tight or were they already forming big and irregular water beads ? For my experience, after a few strong rain, the water beads became relatively bigger and irregular as compare to using SG.

This is what I get after about a month (AIO/UPP), #16 seems to bead for a good 3 month easy. I thought I was the only one experienceing this with UPP, glad to see I'm not the only one.
 
Well Docker rabbi heard. :chuckle: I used UPP exclusively one winter. The salt and road grime just rinsed off my cars.At no time did I have to lean/scrub the surface to get the cars clean. The surfaces were so slick that you couldn't lean on the car with the wash mitt or micro. I used either Utimate Carwash Shampoo or Sonax Gloss Shampoo. Every time I dried the car the paint was slick. After drying I applied another coat of UPP when the temperatures allowed. I did this procedure into the middle of March before I did a wash,clay polish,seal and wax job.Btw Ohio does get cold and highway maintenance loves to use salt.

I experienced similar effects from 1 coat of AIO followed by 2 coats of UPP in the early fall. I only apply the 2nd coat of UPP to the horizontal surfaces and the front bumper. Dirt and salt deposits during the winter require almost no effort to remove even though water beading wasn't always evident.
