UPP after one year

Ok, and just FWIW, I'm not tell nothing against the product, in fact, it's one of the best looking products I have...

My problem is only removing it, when I do that looks like I'm moving it around.

Now my thoughts:

- My product is ratter creamy, it compares to EX-P, also in color. Some say theirs is liquid.

- My product smells very well, one of the best smelling I have, while others say theirs smell like solvent or something.

Would it be the case that mine came from a batch with less solvents, thus the smell, consistency and drying problem?

Would be interesting to compare, maybe one of you who has one that works fine can send me some to compare. I could send some of mine or something else in return ;)
 
I find that most consumers confuse the chemical smell of the pure polymers in UPP with that of a solvent.

Although all versions of UPP contain 17% refined odorless mineral spirits, the predominant smell is the polymer blend.

UPP that is a creamy, thicker consistency with a bubble gum aroma is version 2 that was available from early in 2002 until April of 2003. We were pleased with this version as it had the good looks and durability that we were looking for.
There was a learning curve for this product. It needed two things: Thin application and time to cure.

As we all know, when it comes to car wax... you can't please everyone.

With the learning curve in mind we decided that UPP had to become more user friendly to obtain more widespread acceptance. (In hindsight, it looks like we were right. :bigups) We also knew that we couldn't sacrifice looks or durability no matter what we did.

Version 3, the most current version is born. Thin viscosity, no artificial fragrances added.

Just easy to use, long lasting polymer protection that looks great and is very slick.

We still recommend thin application. The thinner the better with any product. This version of UPP has awesome spreadability. A little goes a long way. It just keeps going and going and going.

The drying time is now down to 15 minutes. At least that is what is on the bottle. I still prefer 30-45 minutes "just to be sure".

Wiping the remaining residue off with a microfiber towel is almost effortless if the product was applied to smooth new or like-new surface that is free of contaminants.

The crystal-clear pictures that UPP users post are often very amazing.
 
maybe something happened to the product during shipping? is it possible it could get too hot or too coldduring that long shipping period? its just strange because i have read no other thread about UPP smearing. I am positive it isnt user error because i have read many of your other posts (jgv) and you are definetly well experienced in detailing (and not to mention, everyone else who has been at DC a while highly respects all of your opinions.)
 
Well, I guess this means that I've only seen Versions 1 & 2. I'll have to add version 3 to my shopping list. :crazy

Just great!!! I gave a half full bottle of version 1 UPP to my brother so I could justify buying a new bottle of version 2. That bottle is still half full and now I have to ditch it for version 3? I REALLY REALLY LIKE version 2 UPP and personally don't see any problems with it. Is UPP V3 really that much better? Hard to imagine it could have been significantly improved upon.
 
Natty, I loved version 2 and I still swear that if applied as thin as I apply it and allowed to dry that I never had any streaks or smearing...

But, enough people did so we fixed it.

I believe that in the process of fixing the smearing problem that durability and slickness were improved upon as well.

It doesn't smell pretty and is a thin viscosity but gloss, slickness and durability rank among the best.
