Unhappy about New Season of -Overhaulin'-, anyone else?

I've never really liked over haulin'. It just seems to be: Steal the car, do a prank, shave the door handles, do another prank, paint the car, drop in a crate engine and do the interior and one last prank. This may be the reason they are doing the host/designer flip thing. They're trying to keep people watching the show. I have to admit though, the Mike Lavalle flames are awesome. He should be on there more often. (I'm not saying put flames on every car)

As for Pimp My Ride....

Well, Lets just say if I were to have a choice of having a car done by either of these guys, I would go with Foose. Who really wants that many tv's and speakers in their car? I think I even saw an episode were they put tv's in the parking lamps. I should try to find a nasty looking Ford Pinto that's falling apart and see if I can get on pimp my ride. :chuckle:

Trucks! is the show I watched back when Stacey David was the host. American Hot Rod is pretty good too.

Comparing Pimp my Ride to Overhaulin' is almost comparing apples to oranges.

Making a clunker look better is the only thing the shows have in common.

The cars done on PmR are no where near the caliper of quality as the cars done on Overhaulin'. The team at Overhaulin' takes the car down as far as they can to apply the paint to the car. Overhaulin' replaces or modifies the engine, exhaust, suspension, brakes, AND interior but they usually lack 42" TV's :)

Very rarely, if ever, do you see the guys on PmR even open the hood of the car. Often times the body kits they install don't match up and the paint is not always the best. They are creative however with some of the electronic installs and other weird little things they do to the cars.

I hated wrecks to richies, Barry White is one annoying MFer.. Super muscle car this and that...

Barry is one p**ck you'd love to run over with one of his fake SMC hunks of junk. They don't even bother painting all the chassis at times and I swear I saw rust underneath one of his cars. The guy is always cutting his timeframes to the wire and yelling at his staff. Boy I bet we'd all love to work for him.

As for Overhaulin', yes the pranks are lame at times and they love to pinstripe everything. Chip is one talented guy and his team really does care about doing a good job. Courtney was a better co-host and the reason she left is interesting, I wish her well over on Spike. AJ is married to one of the producers so that's how she got her gig. The role reversals were well done, I'm sure Chip oversaw the whole process with Chris and AJ.

Let's hope they continue to do some classics, I don't need to see some dipstick's 2005 Mustang done over so she can go and sell it on eBay a few months later. Here's the link on the TLC forums. http://community.discovery.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/50710425/m/6821957718

Her reason? She decided she needed a more practical car to haul her son around in. Didn't you know that when you bought your Mustang? Your hubby already had one and you didn't think about that? Sometimes you just shake your head at some people. :nixweiss

My favorite car show is deff a show called UNIQUE WHIPS on speed. They do high end cars for high end people, and they actuatly show you what they do to get the cars the way they end up. OVERHAULIN" is OK at best, there are some good episodes, this season is is a letdown. Cant wait for the new West Coast Customs Show on TLC.

Just my 2 cents,

anyone like build or bust?

Yup but the main guy who is the "producer" or whatever is a complete arse! He is so friggin annoying. I want to see him build a bike!

Russ from Exile is awesome but that other guy (Heavier, baldish guy) that they had on for awhile was kinda ehhhh. I forget what happenned there but apparent Russ and the producer got into a tiff over something and then the other guy came in....yada yadda

Yeah I pretty much all the car shows but getting pi$$ed off at the ones on speed channel that are filmed in Canada. Everytime I see Sports Car Revolution, Chop Cut Rebuild, etc, I catch the same damn episode and they all jump around so much, you never see what the hell they're doing!

Spare a thought for us here in OZ, the shows we are getting are about 3 years old I believe. Last night's was the 67 Fastback Mustang owned by Michael in the Wheelchair. It was the first show I have seen which featured AJ. We only got about 6 shows with Courtney, then no sidekick, now AJ appears.

I love Overhaulin' and fortunately so does my wife. Those drawings by Chip Foose are amazing and you have to hand it to the guy, he even rolls up his sleeves and does some work himself. He comes across as a top bloke too.
