Unbelievable news!!

After MONTHS of delays, I finally got my hands on a PC 7424! Warmer days are just around the corner (at least in my opinion :D ) and I just had a few follow-up questions...

I plan on using Meguiars #9 swirl remover followed by Klasse AIO and SG. Which pads to I need for each product?? Please help.

Thanks!!

the grey fininshing pads for application of wax or sealant. I can achieve highly uniform and thin coats with the machine.

While I usually agree that the grey pad works well for final application, I have also found that it would soak up too much product, especially SG because its so thin in consistency, and it applies too much SG for my liking to get the ultra thin coat. YMMV.

that's a good point - - the lo viscosity sealants do tend to get soaked up in the grey pad.

The AIO may remove any oils/fillers in the #9 so you might want to check your work with a IA/water solution to see if the swirls are really gone. .

Hey now, I remember when my PC arrived. It was then apparent what new fathers felt like!

However, I took it out of the box and it fell directly on the garage floor. Luckily, PC Protective Services was nowhere in site.

I used some AIO on the orange pad from CMA today and it removed ALL of the swirls that remained after one round of P-I III MG. I kind of like the white CMA finishing pads even though they end up being disposable (four uses and they are toast).

Is the counterweight that comes with the polisher okay, or should another one be purchased?
If you're ordering from CMA I recommend ordering the 6" counterweight from them while you're at it.

If you don't have a backing plate get that too (I suggest a 5" model). They might have a "pad kit" that you find attractive.

vaca222- Before you buy a new counterweight, use the wrench to remove your backing plate and look at the weight you already have. It'll say "use only 6" pads" or something similar. What you DON'T want is the one that says "use 5" pads". Even with the 5" plate (I like the flex plate), I use the 6" counterweight.

Thanks for your help, everyone. Now one last question, I think!

The PC box says that it's 6inches...although I haven't checked the backing pad, I assume it's not velcro and that the CMA pads are all velcro?

Thus a need for a 6" velcro backing plate?

its probably been asked before but will i need both polishing and cutting pads? i know ill need a polishing for DACP but would i need cutting pads with med cut cleaner or something on bad swirls?

Check it like Accumulator says, but a 7424 will most likely have the 5" weight. The "6 inches" on the box just refers to the size of that white pad that it comes with.

You should order a 5" velcro backing plate (not 6") while you're getting everything else. NONE of the PCs come with a velcro plate out of the box.

Yes, you really should get both. Cutting pads can be used with DACP too, as needed. There are no strict rules on matching pad to product.
