Ultrafina Finishing Polish with a DA?

Just wanted to know if anyone here has ever tried Finish Polishing with a PC/UMD/G220/G110 or any DA for that matter?

What pad did you use?
What result did you get?
What Speed?
Was the play time ok?

I know that 3M says that it should be used only with a rotary and at high speeds I might add.

I have used it with a black pad set at a speed between 3 & 4 with amazing results. If you have done your prework with other products, this is just a jeweling step that adds an extra WOW to the finish. Use very slight pressurre for the first couple of passes then use the weight of the machine for the last couple of pasees. Using overlapping passes.

I have also used it with the recommended 3M pad and a rotary. IMO, if there is any difference, it is very subtle.

:clap: Thanks for sharing, I have never used 3M UF with a PC, so it is good to know that it produces nice results!!!

Just what I was looking for, one more thing how about Meguiar's Tan Finishing Pads, can I use that instead? I have lots of those, any idea what is the equivalent of the Meguiar's Tan Finishing Pads in the LC CCS line, is it the Black, Blue, or Red?

The Meguiar's Tan pad are very soft and have less mechanical action then the current black foam they use on the So1o pads and SoftBuff 2.0 pads.

As far as the Lake Country pads the RED and BLUE pads are IDENTICAL. Proper Auto Care orginally brought the RED pads to market and had an exclusive on them, as an alternative to the more common BLUE foam sold by other retailers. It was to be different. Same foam, same action, different color.

After the exclusive contract ran out, some other stores brought in the RED pads and choose to market them as different, which is not true.

While none of the foams are completely equal I would match them as such...

Meguiar's Black Foam to Lake Country Black Foam- These are very close foams and both have a very light polishing action on most paints.

Meguiar's Tan to Lake Country BLUE/RED- The Tan pad is very soft and has very little mechanical action which would be very similar to how the BLUE/RED pads work.

Depending on how you choose to use 3M Ultrafina (Ultra Fine) there should be no problem using it with your current inventory of Meg's pads.
 
I have used UF since meeting Asphalt Rocket first using it with a Pc then using it with my rotary i have both 3m blue pads the uk pads 5.5 pads and the larger US pads both work great with UF.Just have to remember one thing UF goes on wet and needs to be removed wet it slings a good amount of oil type residue which is normal has a good amount of working time which really isn't needed and also very easy to work with.
