Ultima Tire Plus Trim Guard question

I started using the 4 oz bottle last weekend on my tires. Instructions on use suggest not to use tire cleaners. Just curious for those that use this product how are you washing your tires. Seems I am stuck between a rock and a hard place as I want o use a tire cleaner (I love ARO) to get all the dirt and grime off but do not want to wash off the Ultima as it's so expensive plus it's not suggested in the instructions. Also, do you use a typical tire brush as I assume that would remove the Ultima too.

Thanks for any help you can offer,

Howard

Typically I just clean them with the car wash solution I used for the car and I use a soft wheel brush.

Every so often I'll clean the tires more aggressively and use a stiffer tire brush. For this cleaning I'll use either Eagle 1 A2Z All Wheel & Tire Cleaner or Dawn Direct Foam, depending on how bad they are.

I got the idea for the Dawn Direct Foam when DavidB was testing the durability of the Ultima tire dressing. I could see the bottle in his pictures in the following thread:

I have found the Dawn Direct Foam to be easy to use and not overly harsh on my tires. The foam dispenser also makes it a lot easier to use than regular Dawn when cleaning my wheel/tire brushes and pads/applicators.

I agree with Eliot Ness. Plain car wash shampoo is usually more than adequate when agitated with a brush to clean without removing the TPTG. In fact, if you overuse the TPTG I've noticed that you can get some buildup of the product.

Has anyone noticed any browning of their tires after using TPTG? I've had some on my rear tires after using it for a couple of weeks. Don't know if any relationship?

I haven't noticed any browning and I've had some on the tires for a few months. The initial looks gradually fades from a gloss to a satin to a matt look but they haven't turned brown.

I'd try scrubbing your tires real well with an APC or Eagle 1 A2Z All Wheel & Tire Cleaner and then try it again.

I wonder if the browning depends on the tire brand. I think Ultima tire and trim is solvent based and some tires may be more finicky than others.
