Ultima Product Review

I think three at least twelve hours apart is perfect. I like to finish the third dried and aged coat with a nice plush MF finishing towel for that extra shine and depth.

I fully understand the issues you would have applying three coats to a customer car due to time constraints. However give the good folks at Ultima a ring and see if a shorter time period is acceptable in such cases. I have been fooling around with a portion of our minivan and have reduced the wait time to about 3 hours and seem to be getting excellent results. I believe however that I am very likely sacrificing durability. Won't know for until after winter I suppose.

By the way the Ultima folks are great to deal with. They called me back in a few minutes.

Yes, a full 12 hours is needed between coats. If you try to rush it, you will simply remove the previous coat.

Thanks David.

You say we can go from the prep to the PGP. Does this mean do NOT wash after PPP?

No. But use it only for bug guts and bird bombs. I have used Adam's QD in the past and liked it a bit better. I do realize however that mixing products can cause problems so I stick to Ultima when I can. I like most of their line well enough to put up with the few things that don't suit me as well.

Are you supposed to buff between each coat or buff until after your last coat has cured?

Absolutely not. Apply it - Let it cure at least twelve hours - repeat at least three or four times - then you can "polish" it using a big thick soft clean MF turning often (or do teh PC with MF over the pad thing). The last step is not required but adds a nice sheen.

Terrific well documented review . Thanks for making me spend more money on detailing products. jajajajajajaja

Cheers , Jean Paul

Great review, I will be trying this product in a few months. I want to compare it to Zaino. I love my zaino, but I always give new products a try.

Zaino rocks. A buddy of mine in MI used it. Great product. But IMO kind of a pain in the butt to use. Even he whines about it regularly. I sent him a couple ounces of my Ultima PGP to try out in the spring. He really liked how my Lexus turned out and is looking forward to using it instead of Zaino. It should be an interesting comparison.

Please start a thread when you do the comparison so that the forum can see how your experience with Zaino and UPGP turns out. Ought to be fun!

No, problem. Zaino is a just alittle more work than other products, but Zaino is just amazing product. So, I am very curious to try out this comparison.

Hello from New Zealand where the internet keeps us in the loop! I have been using P21S on our black and red vehicles to great effect but I recently bought and applied Ultima PGP to my 2004 Victory Red Chevrolet Silverado SS and popped a shine I haven't seen before!

I need to apply another couple of coats obviously and from your excellent review Knucklebucket, I am now sure that that I have found a winner.

Yes sir! The stuff is pretty amazing indeed! Drop a couple more coats on and do a hand polish with a soft thick MF and you will be amazed!!

Keep us in the loop!
