Ultima PGP + FK1000p gone in a month?

Hmm.. what did I do wrong? I recieved my flex and my first victim was a red Toyota Camry (moms). Used Optimum Polish and observed about 75% correction in my opinion but since the car was beat up to begin with it looked amazing :woohoo:

After polishing I applied Ultima PGP and let it cure for about 3 hours. I then applied Fk1000p and the car never looked better. Thanks Autopia!

The problem is it rained today and I noticed there was sheets of water all over the car and very little beading. Any idea what I did wrong?

You need to let the UPGP set up longer than 3 hours. Trust me its worth it. You do NOT need to layer multipe coats in a day to get the durability from this product. You will notice that after the first coat has cured 12-24 hours the gloss is better than when you just finished. I am not sure why you would put another coat of anything over the UPGP? To me the true reflective gloss is unbeatable. I believe teh UPGP never set up and cured and therfore did not adhere properly to the paint.

When pollen or other particles settle on the paint surface, the paint tends not to bead well. Like Scott said, wash it, that should restore your beads.

Why top UPGP with 1000p? Why not use 2-3 layers of just one? Or fk 1000p then apply UPGP. 1000p can be layered right after it is buffed off.

I usually use a sealant followed by a carnuaba. Never had any problems in the past. Opti-seal followed by Nattys blue on my own car looked amazing. My old car I would use the klausse twins and carnauba never any problems?

Why do you suggest 1000p first followed by PGP? I am not sure how PGP followed by 1000p is any different?

I'd leave UPGP cure for a day and then top it.

1000P can go over it theoretically. Observe it and when the results are not satisfactory, use 1000P alone.

How old is the Camry?

it is a 2001 Camry. I plan on washing and applying PGP sometime this week.

I think I heard from a reliable source that UPGP needs at least 18 hours between coats. Longer if it's used in cold weather.

I'd stick with either UPGP or 1000P though, and not both. Usually, when guys use two LSP's, you'll see a wax on top of a sealant, and not two waxes, nor two sealants. Usually.. YMMV. :)

But if you want to go with the UPGP/1000P combo, I'd use the 1000p first, as you can top it immediately. Also, your LSP is only as durable as the base coat, and in my book, 1000P is more durable.

I say 1000p then UPGP because 1000p can be layered or topped right after buffing off where as UPGP needs more time to cure. And for some reason in my head I would rather use a WOWA product last instead of before a traditional wax/sealant.
