Ultima Paint Guard Plus or Opt-Seal for a WOWA?

Hi all.



I am looking for a WOWA sealant for my kids' car. The car is outside 24/7. I have read about both UPGP and Opti-Seal. Which would be best for my criteria, in order of importance:



1. Ease of use

2. Durability (Michigan winter with snow, slush & salt)

3. Appearance

I don't know that there's a huge difference between them (I've only used the Zaino WOWA). The UPGP is on sale at AG for $34.99, which makes it slightly cheaper per ounce than the OS (plus there is a 15% off sale right now). One criticism of the UPGP is the sprayer can be a little finicky.
 
Optiseal by a long shot. UPGP has zero depth unless paired with something like DWG, and at that point, you are just better off using BFWD. Optiseal also lasts longer.
 
I really like UPGP. ^^ Yakky is right about DWG amping it up.



Honestly though, I dont think you can go wrong with either choice.
 
I say Aquartz or C1 Crystal Lacquer or C2 Liquid Crystal Concentrate. All are monomolecular silicium (SI14) coatings which will give a true to life color of your paint. C2 is a non-yellowing, high gloss, dirt repelling coating that cross-links with all surfaces of your car including bodywork, glass and trim providing long lasting (as much as 8 months from a single application) and exceptionally easy non smearing application. But my choice is the C1.
 
I have used the UPGP and really like it. I have black, white and silver vehicles and it really makes them deep and wet. Pre application prep is the key no matter what you buy. Wash, clay, wash, polish and LSP. I got through a bad NY winter with UPGP and plan on going it again this year. The UPGP really impresses me by its ability to release the dirt. It is slick and I do like it. It super quick to apply and a little goes a long way. watch the You Tube video (ASAIN) to see how to apply. I wish I saw this b4 I used it first as I used way too much and wasted alot. More is less and now that I have it down, its super simple. I still play with other LSP's to see if there is something better but to date I have not. I think that the good ones are just about the same in terms of looks and protection, so I look for ease of use. Getting lazy in my old age!

So have you used Optiseal?

Those seem interesting, but there is always some sort of catch. I'm waiting a while to see what it is for C1 and C2.

I`ve had and used C2 for over 2yrs and yes its got a catch.......... its just too easy !
 
I've used both and while UPGP looks a bit wetter upon initial application, after 60-90 minutes, there isn't any difference in wetness and OS has more depth. Plus OS is more goof-proof in its application and the sprayers on all 4 bottles I've gone through have worked perfectly.

I have not only because I have not needed to purchase a WOWA sealant again. I would try it next baised on some of the feedback I have read and the people who have reviewed it. I have been on the board for about 2 years and This will sound funny, but you get to know these regular poster and I trust them and their opinions.

I think you might like it, when anyone compares the two, the worst they say about OS is it is just as good as UPGP.

Lol... what if you paint starts peeling in a month!?!? I guess I'm too picky, I always find a weakness with something! So many flavors de jour come and go. Man I remember when everyone was all hot and bothered about UPGP.

You`ll find Gtechniq are certainly not `flash in the pan` but World class products that will stand the test of time.

And UPGP is still an excellent product but time moves on :sadwavey:
 
I've been using UPGP for the past year and a half on my wife's vehicles. I have no complaints whatsoever. I am very happy with the product. It's super easy to apply and it looks great. I have never experienced any streaking, nor have I experienced any problems with the sprayer. UPGP has gotten my wife's cars through the past two winters here in Virginia.



I have not tried OS yet and so cannot compare the two products.
 
I've used both UPGP and OS. I came to the conclusion that I prefer OS, as I find it to have a bit more depth to it than UPGP.



I've said it before: I have used a LOT of sealants over the years. OS remains one of my favorites, and I have been using it on and off for a few years now.



It seems that some people have the impression that OS is a compromised product because it is a WOWA product, but I don't find that to be the case at all.
