Ultima -2001 GMC K1500

My truck, a 2001 GMC K1500, purchased new back in August 2001 has seen 3 Illinois winters, 3 years of Florida heat, been buried in mud in creekbeds and cornfields, buried in snow, and beat to death with constant Florida sun and heat.

I had to the pleasure to work on my truck with Brian (vasupershine) to prep the paint for Ultima The process we used was pretty basic. ONR, clay, rotary, a single application of UPGP.

I am going to try my best to update these pics week by week with the durability and shine of UPGP. There will be no additional applications of UPGP or detail spray.

I apologize for the lack of pictures, I didnt have my camera at this time.

BTW, thanks Brian, we made my truck look pretty daggone good.

Andy, the truck looked great as was, we just took it to the next level. I will be watching this thread weekly to see what your findings are, the product sure applies easily. Spreads forever too.
 
Bet he'll bring it up to the next level. You ride looks great already, but i want to see it when it's done!.....Happy Detailing .........
 
yeah it hasn't really been machine polished yet since the little rotary work the bodyshop did when it rolled out of the paintbooth and the little bit he did the other day :lol:
 
The Ultima PGP has been on for a week. The results look almost better than when it was first applied. I have no "wet" or "bead" pictures because I am going to emphasize on the depth and reflection that this truck has never had.

I did a simple wash with NXT, dressed tires with Malco dressing, Stoners Trim Shine on everything else. The water sheeted off very nicely, so what was left on the truck was very nice beads. I will put up pics of that next week.

I found that Ultima PGP really does not max out until you get three coats on at least twelve hours apart. Much better than a single coat. Night and day. I think it should say so on the label.
 
Here are some pics from today, I think we are about 8 weeks in . There has been no additional applications of Ultima and I have been washing with NXT. Excuse the pics, they were taken with a cellphone camera.

Really makes a diff...
 
I have a 2000 Silverado. It sits out in the driveway here in Delaware. I've used the Elastrofoam, Paint Prep and Paint guard. I wash it about every 2 weeks, and throw a new layer of sealant on about once a month. I have 6 coats on the hood and 4 everywhere else. I am getting good results like you. The sun angle wasnt the greatest on some of the pictures, sorry. I agree that the results are really good after the third coat.

Brian- It is sheeting very nicely. I left work the other day right after it had rained and the beads blew off of my truck within a mile. It was perfectly dry.
