I didn't agree with all of the findings in the Which? report but they seemed about right for Mer. As for the surface prep, it is a cleaner wax type of product so should be able to prep and seal in one, just as the other products had to.
 
Wow I never thought Mer would have any reactions. I used Mer and Comma just to see how it worked with EX-P. I have had a bottle for years and I think it is ok.



Now I know it brings out strong feelings, I will try it again in the spring against some other products :)

Jury's still out on the Oxo brush for me - works fine on the Astra (lower panels only to avoid any marring issues) but marred the Ka (darker met green) really badly :confused:



Alex should also be stocking something else by the end of the month - bit Klasse-y :D



Tried Wg this morning on the 205 (big meet this pm) and it doesn't like direct sunshine AT ALL - 2 layers of Carlack instead - this is becoming my go to product pretty rapidly!
 
Andy, if you get the chance try some Carlack and then SRP. I hope this should improve the shine or at least it does when I use a chemical polish prior to SRP.

I referred to the brushes for wheels & tyres only. I have the Oxo body brush but only use it on the textured finish on the sills
 
The only place I would use that brush is the arches. I gave mine a good clean but it still is pretty mucky so im gonna use some more degreasent.



On another note, I tried my glanz wax from andy @ erazer, works really well, very easy to put on. Gonna strip the car of its current stuff and just put 1Z on. Ill post pics when done!

Yes, I too like the Glanz, very easy to use especially when you use a small spray bottle. Used it over PB's PwC & topped with Natty's, looks great on Silver

I use my OXO wash brush on the front and rear bumpers, cills, door openings, cleans up pretty well, but is now a greyish colour.



Quick question, how do you remove previous product build up safely and quickly, is that 1Z Acrysol Silicone Remover a bit potent ?
 
Can the uk guys point me in the direction of a clay supplier. I've just picked up a 97 328i bmw as a run around that has never been polished in it's life. The paint is a mess and is crying out for a decent clay but I don't have any. Swinging towards Mother's or Clay Magic unless anyone has any other suggestions.
 
Just tried clay magic after using Mothers for a long time-seems a very good product, but maybe not for very neglected surfaces.

The polishing company do it-see U.K. listing.

new product you might want to try for cleaning inside the arches:

castrol 'greentec' bike cleaner. You can read a bit more about it here:

available from halfords at £6.99 - It comes in a 1ltr spray bottle and is claimed to be safe to clean all surfaces of the bike - paint, engine, suspension etc.. Anyway I wouldn't use it on paint as it strips "EVERY" last drop of wax from the finish!! (although I guess that might be useful in some situations). But on the engine casings of the bike an in areas where it is difficult to get a sponge / brush into - this stuff is unbelievable!



So I tried squirting some into the wheel arches of my 2001 BMW (which I don't think had ever been cleaned inside the arches), left for a minute or so and then just hosed off - it too all the dirt off no problem and left the shiny silver anti-stone chip paint stuff on display.



It could also be used to detail the engine bay too.



I am really impressed by this stuff - it actually changes colour from bright green to brown as it cleans and absorbs the dirt.

I'm looking for something which cleans well without the risk of causing any damage.

I think you could probably get the same result with Megs APC used in a 4:1 mix & that's only a tenner for a gallon in concentrated form as well as being able to dilute into other mixes for all kinds of uses. Also consider Virosol in the UK from here http://www.jantastic.co.uk/acatalog/Jantastic_Household_Products_6.html

Andy how did the look off the Wolfgang compare to EX with Carnuba or NXT?
 
Andrew - I haven't tried it on wheels, although I guess it would be excellent. However, if your wheels are sealed / waxed then I wouldn't use it as it does strip every lastbit of wax off the painted parts. It is a damn good cleaner though. for the wheel arches I have yet to find anything better.



Vindaloo - I haven't tried either of those products, but i will look out for them. The reason I thought I would mention the greentec is that I am really impressed by it - I have yet to find another "true" spray on - rinse off cleaner with the same effect.

Hard to say Rich - it reacted badly to direct sunlight IMHO and went cloudy so I buffed off and 2 layers of Carlack later all was well. Tried topping that with UPP and got blotches again! Not sure what went wrong - even EX-P went cloudy and v hard to remove without streaking - odd.



I'm going to try it on the Astra in a couple of weeks but jury has to be out on this until I get to see some results:nixweiss



I even packed the PC away and went back to good old VMW/Carlack 68 by hand - v nice combo on black (couple of pics over at 205gtidrivers)



As soon as I can find my USB lead I'll post pics - took some nice ones of the cars reflections in each other of that makes sense
