Uggg. I can't win. I give up.

I really don't want this thread to revert to another "wax test controversy" but I have to add 1 little tidbit.



Our report was never intended to serve the manufacturers or the professional detailers. It was intended to serve the "little guys" so we purposely designed the test to be comprehensible and representative of "real world" use and conditions.



The mfg's (and oddly, some "pro's") are looking for any reason to shoot down our report, which is fine, but I'd hope that rather than "dis" or "fear" or "mock" it, they'd take a step back and consider that we did what 99% of the public does when they detail their cars. We clearly state that the test methods were not by any means scientific, and that we conducted the tests in an unsicentific manner ON PURPOSE.



It's a sad fact that when you pull back the curtain that hides the almighty wizard, people get a little upset. I say, "oh well that's life." I too, was sick of the lame "reviews" and "tests" that existed for just about every product that there ever was, so I decided to do something about it. :)



Anyone is welcome to do their own wax tests, edit them, spend months in layout, pay the printing fees (around $100K), publish it, set-up a store and sell 'em. :D
 
Your wax test was more than fair. These companies should use this info to improve their products for the future.

I can certainly understand how you feel. I detail a Ford Expidition every 3-4 months and every time I finish it, the interior looks great and when I come back, it is completely trashed. Filled with what seems to be their life's possessions, old food, half filled cups rotting in the cup holders and dog hair everywhere. Last time I detailed it, I casually mentioned if they vacuumed it weekly, the dog hair wouldn't be such an issue. She looked at me and said, "Well, that is what you are for", implying to me that it does not get vacuumed at all between details. I simply cannot understand that, especially since I do charge her more to clean it.



I still get frustrated when I leave it looking so nice and it looks so nasty 3 months later.

It makes you wonder what their house looks like. I have an extremely wealthy client whose caravan looks like she intentionally trashes it to get it to look like it does when she brings it in. I have no idea how anyone could make a vehicle so dirty, so fast without actually making an effort to get it that way.

Kids and dogs can do amazing things to a car that every detailer can be thankful for ... for the extra revenue they can charge the customers ;)



I have two daughters with kids (one with a rather large, hairy dog, too). Their cars are always a mess! When they come for the weekend, I feel compelled to vacuum up all the junk for the kids' sake. If I have time, I also wash the exterior and at least apply a coat of polish & wax. I love to do it and they are happy. When they leave, I like it when I hear my grandkids tell their parents: "Mommy, the car looks cool!" ... and, the eldest is only seven! Hopefully, when she gets her own car, she will do what Grandpa does.
 
It all boils down to one point. Women are evil. :D



I spend hours making her Saturn look pretty and a few weeks later I repeat the process. If I ever need a coathanger, I just check her back seat. She'll also accumulate at least one extra pair of shoes, a few pop bottles and a towel or two. I find a few wrappers or those little plastic caps from bottles of water.



Evil I tell you....evil!!

Scott, Scott, Scott - shame on you. :( I am living proof that not ALL women are slobs when it comes to their vehicles.



You could literally eat off of any component on my Corvette - you choose. The engine, wheelwells, rims, interior, exterior, undercarriage....take your pick, they are all VERY clean.



And as far as the daily driver goes, it is I and not my husband that spends countless hours each week cleaning and maintaining that as well. His response, 'What are you doing that for, it's only going to get dirty again." My response: :doh and :rolleyes: .



I am the one with the stash of cleaning supplies all lined up and organized on my shelving unit. I am the one with countless microfiber towels of varying grades - and I know how to use them. :D



Women may not represent the majority here, that's for sure - but we are just as proud of our work as the guys here. :xyxthumbs

There are those few out there who do the detailing profession and hobby proud. :) I'm lucky to be married to one of em. (Good thing too. I should have made it a stipulation before we got married that she stay that way.)
