Just wanted to note that I'm absolutely *NOT* disagreeing with your line of reasoning, either about the Edge system or the examples above. And those two examples are things I specifically agree with you about...I call all forms of gambling "taxes on the arithmetically impaired", much to the consternation of some of my friends ;)



The Edge system is a risk I'll take, in part because I know how I handle the Cyclo (and hey, I've used one for decades). But that's one very personal decision.

Exactly, that is the point I was exactly trying to make, unless something is inherently flawed all we can do is offer list of our personal pros/cons, but our personal feeling toward something should never be shoveled down somebody else's throat, just like we wouldn't like it being shoveled down ours, final decision is personal and that should be respected.
 
Either of you want to help me talk the wife into letting me get the cyclo? Actually, I've found it's easier to ask forgiveness than permission! And since she just got a new van on Saturday, I think now is a good time.
 
I've been using the Edge system on my Cyclo for about 5-6 months now. I will never go back to velcro backed pads again. Perfectly centered pads every time, even less vibration and the lighter weight of the edge systems means more power to the pads, similar to using lighter wheels on a car. The Edge pads hold up very well too.

I love my Edge pads, too.
