UDM for sanding on vehicle

As you guys and gals know I have asked about sanding with aPC. What about using a UDM, it has more power fro what I have read and DC has a real good price it and soe 5.5" pads, backing plate, and pad cleaner. Whatdoyouguys think?? At this time it looks like the purchase needes to be done before the endof the tear for the best deals. Thanks RANDAL
 
I missed your original post about sanding a vehicle with a PC. Why would you want to do that in the first place?
 
Scott the reason forgoing this way is that even with 2 air copressors hooked together, with 80+ gallons of compressed air storage, the air operated DA sander wont keep up. T
he electric power is a constant, untily dad blows the curcuit with the elec. palm sander. We are sanding 2 vehicles to refinish, 2 different buildings 3/4 mile apart. He has a 1966 Thunderbird, and Ive got a 1967 International Scout 800. Ive tried soe aircraft stripper on mine yesterday, and it only loosens soe of the enamal, as I was told it would do. Sanding with 60-80 grit is still about as fast at getting all the way down down to the steel. I dont have a PC or UDM yet either so I would be buying for 2 uses. I not interested in a Cyclo and I have 2 rotaries. RANDAL
 
The UDM won't dissapoint you Randal. It's got more power and won't bog down with some pressure being applied.
 
Just a suggestion what about renting a sand blaster? since you have two cars it would help get the bulk of the work done faster then finish up with the sanders
 
Dave, I dohave a small sandblaster, but it uses a lot of air also. it also doesnt remove some of the hard enamel paint that is on the scout, had to use high speed sander to get soe off the other day. When I go with either PC or UDM, Ill have 2 uses for the instead of just one. Thanks for the suggestion again Dave. RANDAL In cold Iowa
