U Got to LOVE it, Mazda MX5.

Here is another fancy car from Mazda, the MX5 roadster. After I first saw the car, I thought this car is not going to take too long to finish but than again, I am wrong. It took me 6 hours plus to finish with this car even without the roof and I am really surprise it took me so long. The car was just detailed by a grooming centre about 1 month ago and this is what I found on the car,

Initially I thought the swirls were not too bad, so I started with IP + light cutting pad + DA @ speed 5 to work out on the swirls. But after 2 passes, only 60% of the defects were removed and I knew I was dealing with some pretty deep swirls marks. So out came the Power Gloss and cutting pad. With this combination I still need to do 2 passes @ speed 5 on the DA. After that I polish the whole car with PO85RD + polishing pad + DA @ speed 4.

Next I applied Jeffs Werkstatt Prime with a finishing pad @ speed 3 and let it set in for 30 mins before buffing off. At this stage the paint surface is already very smooth and sleek. For the final step, I applied Acrylic Jett by hand with a microfiber towel and the result is a very shiny and wet car.

After I have finished with the work, the owner need to rush off and I only manage to snap a few shots of this gorgeous baby.

There is no before and after photos on the swirls removal because thought of doing it after I have finished with the car. But the owner needs to rush off so no time for that and you guys just got to trust me that the swirls are gone.

To receive such a remark from the detailing god of Autopia I am really flatter. In fact most of my detailing skill came from all the detailing experience you shared in the forum and I really appreciate your unselfish sharing. Similarly many other members here have also help to make this forum so informative, Autopia ROCKS :2thumbs: :bigups

I am equally impressed by the slickness of Prime and with AJ as the topper, the combo is almost unbeatable on black :xyxthumbs .

Another amazing job, that Prime/AJ combo looks just perfect

Thanks for the kind words and you are very right on the Prime/AJ combo. Btw, have you decided what to use on your red ride ?

Paint looks fantastic. Have not tried the Menzerna polishes yet, but it seems they do about the best job at producing a very reflective, clear, and "perfect" look. Gotta try it soon!

Great work, the MX5 looks amazing. :woohoo:

I highly recommand you try out the 106FF or the 85RD, both are excellent final polish and you will never regrat it.

SilverLexus & tumbler - Thanks for the continuous encouragement and it really helps to keep me going and going :dance .

I LOVE that car. Contrary to the general perception of Mazda Miatas/MX5s, that is one mean machine

My sister got herself an '06 Winning Blue MX5 with the sport package. The car looks so good it sticks out like a sore thumb!

It's part of the reason why I now own her old 2001 Prelude! :D
