Two truly disgusting black vehicles - v. Audi and Tahoe

So, a nice woman emails me regarding getting her vehicles detailed before the winter. She mentions "they really need it". Instantly, I know it can't be good. To top it off, I pull up this morning and they're both black :(.

They were covered in heavy cobwebbed swirl marks, bonded contaminants, road grime, and just general filth. Washing alone took 50 mins for the Audi and 80 mins for the Tahoe.

She didn't want to have them clayed or heavily polished so I had to make due with a very thorough washing regimen, light polish, and sealant. At the end of the day, they (her and her husband) were thrilled.

I used the exact same processes on both vehicles, so only look for one cliff list...

Clean

-TOL Bubble Bath Wash

-FK1 Ultimate Cleaner cut 10:1 as presoak (bug scrubbed on lower panels as well as the nose and windows)

-TOL Tire Cleaner cut 50/50 x 2 on tires/wells

-Meguiar's Wheel Brightener cut 50/50 on wheels

-Pressure washed like crazy to rinse

Polish/Protect

-Menzerna PO85RD via rotary and LC Finishing Pad @ 1500 rpm

-FK1 #218 by hand on paint, windows, wheels, and chrome

-FK1 #425 to remove any streaks/haze

Dressing

-Poorboy's Trim Restorer on plastic/rubber trim

-CD2 Engine Detailer on front grille

-Meguiar's Hyper Dressing cut 3:1 in wells

-Wolfgang Tire Gel on tires

very nice work on that AUDI! :getdown that rear 1/4 panel on the tahoe a re-paint? Looks like a lot of OP....

Big improvement! Why didn't they want to get them polished more deeply? I have some customers like that and I just don't get it. :nixweiss

i got a question for u GSR...

i see you got a dropped car as well...

how do you get in the wheel wells with a car thats dropped?

do you jack it up?

Ahhh, the beauty of a well detailed Black on Black Audi. Nice work there my friend.

How people can buy expensive cars and let them go to crap is beyond me.

Thanks all...your comments are greatly appreciated.

4830: The whole vehicle was like that. I was rather unimpressed with the paint, but then again, it was rather neglected too.

Scott: Beats me! When some people hear the price difference, they laugh, and don't even question the rest. Others, say, "oh I don't really need that".

The only logical answer I can think of is because they will never keep up with an extremely clean finish, as shown by the condition of these two.

hadboost: Black & Decker 1300psi electric. It is the size of a small napsack, I love it!

I have last years model (slightly different shape) and picked it up brand new, in box off ebay for $42 shipped (thanks again ebp for pointing it out to me).

big mike: I just make due with what I have. My car is street only, obviously, so it never really gets dirty, plus I wash it 1-2 times a week.

Thomas: $60 more for claying and deep polishing.

Thanks again!

I hear ya. I had one customer tell me "You don't have to make it great in your eyes, just in my eyes...and my eyes ain't that great!".

I have to jack mine to get into the wells properly - c'est la vie when you run a low car. Amazing details, can't believe the total work times. I spent 6 hours on an audi S3 on Saturday, and it didn't look as bad as the one above. I guess working more quickly comes with experience.

Awesome, just awesome!!

Glad that you like the PW, mine has really saved my arse a time or two. :)

I can tell by your "work" times that you get in the *zone*!! :D

Fantastic detail! $60 more for deep polishing thats not much. Here in Sweden you have to pay around $180 for heavy polishing, polish and wax.
