got some club members cars to detail... made them my test mules for techniques
1st one is a RS Turbo
car had been resprayed about 5 years ago in the original burgandy from factory
car needed a full clay, this car had alot of stuck on contaminants. i had to go over some parts twice with a clay bar thats how bad it was.
we bought it into the garage under some halogens to get an idea of how swirled it was.
the top part of this pic, i tried some meguiars speed glaze, but this is how it came out after a clay.
i tried some different products to see what needed to get the job done.
started out with megs speed glaze on a polishing pad with the rotary at 3 setting.
wasnt aggressive enough. i then moved onto meguairs dual action cleaner polish with polishing pad, not cutting it either.
thought id give poorboys SSR 2.5 with a cutting pad a try, that was a much better combo on this paint.
althought the paint was relatively hard, as i needed to go over each panel twice to remove swirling.
here is the bonnet with two passes of SSR2.5 on a cutting pad. still not entirely perfect
boot
the front left quarter, you can see all the swirling here under the lights
hit it twice... goneski!
after removing the defects, i went over the car with poorboys polish with carnuaba blue via machine.
after that applied meguairs #21 synthetic sealant by hand.. i didnt realise i shouldnt of used this, as the polish had carnuaba in it
then topped off with poorboys nattys blue by hand also
finished product.. pics dont show it as i had to resize them, but this thing was glossy as! had depth aswell.. that and also becasue there was no sun!
if it was me, i would of polished this thing all night to make it 100% swirl free, but didnt want to keep him waiting all day
