Turtle Wax LIQUID claybar

What about the decontamination kits...aren't they all liquid? They seem to work.

They work really well actually - but I wouldn't want to see one in the hands of a regular guy. They require 3 steps too - opposing acid and base steps.

In theory, what TW liquid claybar claims to do is impossible - melt both metals (requires an acid) and soil contamination (requires a base) off in one go, and then neutralize the surface to boot. I haven't looked at its ingredient list yet, but I'd bet its similar to a paint cleaner with very mild abrasives (prime strong ish).

I needed a reason to get out of the house so zipped up to Pep Boys for a re-up on wheel cleaner. Didn't see this product though. I'll check Advance Auto during lunch tomorrow.

I'm not sure about spending any money on it now though, as there won't be any polishing going on up here for at least another 60 to 90 days or so.

i googled a pic of this stuff but has any one took the leap?

I haven't seen it anywhere locally. I'm hoping to give it try for my upcoming de-winterizing detail on the Audi.

That would be a fair test comparsion against say Blue Magic Clay bars (my normal), esp on the lower parts of the car.

:P i saw it on shelves yesterday...it costs $20...the same as a quik clay kit so i am pretty reluctant to try it

Canadian tire.

If i get a detail involving rail dust i'll give it a shot.

EDIT i guess it technically very cheap as you are getting 16oz of clay

LOL, I was in Toronto a month or so ago and went there just for a look see. I have to visit the parts store again this week again around here, I'll have a look then.

Okay, I see PartsAmerica/Advanced Autoparts has it. AutoZone might but PepBoys didn't when I was there last week.

I'm getting a bottle soon to try out. I'm not to interested in the swirl or Scratch removal as the cleaning ability of embedded contaiminates.

everyone sees it, but nobody buys it LOL.

BTW if you plan to go to CT call the store 2 weeks ahead of time and you can order some CD-2

I also noticed they now have a Turtle Wax Ice Car Wash. Saw it at Target today. I admire TW for at least trying to come up with new products.

What do you mean "trying" to come up with new products? These are NEW products. "we" may not like them, but I guarantee if Zaino, Meguiars, Optimum, CG, etc... had come up with these products, we would all be jumping to try them.

Out here on the west coast, Kragen's has it...just in. I didn't buy it though. I still have the ICE polish and QD kinda in the background since I started using Meguiars professional products including clay. I would have bought it if this wasn't the case.

Sorry, I should've said trying to reinvent themselves, not become stagnant, etc. which is really the broader point I was trying to convey. I certainly would never say I don't like them as I've never used them.

If you've never seen this site and were a casual owner, you'd think these were new and innovative...which they may be for OTC

The 'polish' does have some advantages over typical OTC stuff..like the non staining and super easy application...which are typical complaints about alot of OTC stuff..of course the major downside is applying it twice a month :D

I think ICE got a good rep at first, but now I'm hearing more about how it doesn't last
