turtle wax liquid clay

Omg this stuff is so amazing. I was able to get rid of yellow road paint in a sinch, and my car is 15 years old and it brought out fresh, new paint for me to seal...I made an account just so I can praise this product.

You should hang around for a little while. ;)

I'm going to. It kind of bugs me how you guys who have good paint down this product though. I have no great car paint, since it's 15 years old, and it has its fair share of contaminants, but i was so impressed with this. I'm going to test and get pics of this and what it's capable of. It may not be as powerful as a clay bar, (never used one), but it seems that it's doing what I want it too. ie - taking off a layer and puttting fresh paint up.

I never thought people would have forums dedicated to auto cleaning o_0

People seem to have a forum for everything now.

Personally, I am rather impressed with TurtleWax products with all the brain washing I was told about Turtle Wax and ArmorAll. People made them seem like your car was going to explode if you used them, and so I just stayed away from the products, but after using them, I was impressed! Sure, there are products that will last longer, may look better, may be easier to work with, but they aren't bad and will do more good than harm for sure!

You're not missing anything.

You might want to try some clay.

I probably would have, if I knew how to safely do it. But this is getting the yellow road paint of 4 months off of my 15 year old car so I'm glad with what it's doing atm. However, it does not remove light/medium scratch's only very faint swirl marks. Basically this is very low end, and only takes off light oxiodation and blemishes, but it did what I wanted it to do.

And as for the post 3-5 above this one, I'm completely unimpressed with Amor-All products...the wheel cleaner is very very weak. The tire shine...just sucks. But their interior products work well for me. I am going to stray away from Meguiars gold class wash and try Amorall wash and wax wash and see what happens.

Thanks for the input.

EDIT:

It also seemed like using a clay bar would use more than 15 minutes, and I am very impatient. I HATE detailing my car. It's just something that has to be done to make it look good.

Well yeah but if you hate doing it but do it right when you do you wont have to do it as often. I found the liquid clay to be an absolute JOKE. It did very little to clean the light stuff that was on the paint and left behind a heavy oily film. That oily film required a paint cleaner to remove it. It did nothing to remove any swirls but the oil may have hid some.

I bought this product knowing full well it wouldn't do the job of actual clay, much less remove swirls. Those are just rediculous claims by the manufacturer. I bought it to use as a quick and easy paint cleaner. I live in an apartment, and even though we have a very nice wash bay, I try to get done as quickly as possible so others can use it. I don't have a pc or an outlet to plug into, so I do all my detailing by hand under my carport.

I found the Liquid Clay Bar to be fairly effective for removing the old wax, bugs, and light contamination. The problem is that it leaves a white residue that rinsing alone won't remove. So I wash it again before drying, and applying Ice Polish. Another misleading name, because it is not a polish, but a sealant. Anyway I usually apply 2 coats of the Ice Polish, and am actually pretty pleased with the results. Yes there are better products and methods, but it works well for my purposes.

Last week I applied a coat of Mother's glaze before the 2 coats of Ice polish, and actually got mobbed at the local cruise in by guys asking me what I used. One guy said "I can see this car has seen it's share of claying." Yes I was shocked. Another guy was raving about how good the Ice polish made my wheels look. It really makes the black plastic trim look good too. I maintain the shine with Ice detailer after every wash.

Keep in mind, this is coming from a guy who has always thought of Turtle Wax products as inferior.

I'm all about not being snobby about things but I never liked the liquid clay bar and ice polish. I do like the TW premium polish though, good results for such a cheap polish.

I keep a bottle of Ice detailer around to do the black trim after using Duragloss 271 RBD (Rubber & Flat Black Dressing), it brings it to another level :2thumbs: My painted wheels get a shot of 50/50 mix of Ice detailer and AW after every wash and look great.

Heh, so if I follow this correctly...you say that Turtle Wax products are: harder to work with, don't protect as well, don't last as long, and don't beautify as well as others....but it isn't bad because "it does more harm than good" ?

I'm sorry, but that is one of the dumbest things I have ever read. You are basically stating that the product "does something," therefor it can't be THAAAT bad.

I seriously don't follow that logic on any level... :tumblewee

i found that the ice liquid polish was pointless.

i couldnt tell where it was applied to my silver car, and it didnt dry, which means it coiuldnt possibly have left any protection...

the slickness wasnt impressive, and my car didnt look any better with it either...

why call a product liquid clay, if it doesnt clay?
