I have a Chevy 2500HD that has the black plastic textured fender flares. I was wondering what a product like ICE would do to them?

Just wondering if anyone had tried it before I do? I use ZAINO on the truck, but have the ICE in the cabinet.

Thanks

you should run a search for ice i think there were reviews of it, im sure that will tell you what guys like to and dont like to use it on.

Ok, I did search and looked (might have actually overlooked it), but still didn't find anything pertaining to what I was asking about.

Can anyone recommend anything for my flares besides some type of dressing?

Thanks

theyre textured plastic so why dont you use a trim gel or any dressing. 303 would be a popular pic, hyper dressing wold shine the hell out of em. of course youll have to reapply every week or two.

Well, I've tried several different dressings on them. They look good, but I hate how after time, rain, etc they look uneven. If I leave them just "clean" they start to look a little aged.

Just exploring my options.

Thanks

I use ICE regualrly because I like it. I use it on my black trim as well and it works. It probably doesn't last as long as other treatments, I suppose, but I use it every weekend because it is so incredibly easy to use - a single product for the body and the trim. In fact, my trim is completely black and I started using ICE right after I bought the car. I'm on my second bottle in 8 months. Not a bad investment. (As to the paint, I will say that I subsequent have clayed, polished and sealed with Meguairs products but use ICE every week for the look - trim included).

Hope that helps.

well you have several of them my friend, i have never used ice so i dont even know what particular ice item youre considering.

i don't know if the tire sealant sonus was making is available but if it is it should be right up your alley. it lasted three weeks on my tires, and it didnt thin out or give an uneven look till it was about ready for reapply.

if youre looking for otc you could try mothers back to black, it's kind of a pain as you have to go over it so many times to get what youre looking for but it does look nice for an otc.

ICE works perfectly for trim, IMO. It makes trim a nice matte black and lasts for a few weeks in fair conditions. I like the ICE shine too; it's comparable to NXT's shine but is way easier to apply and remove. Durability though is questionable at best and depth is 2D though...

But while I'm using some boutique stuff, I'm basically using ICE polish for trim.

Try Ultima Tire & Trim Guard Plus. I used the beta version of this product and just got a demo of the production version by David B at the Ultima & UDM launch event in San Diego. It will darken the plastic and seal it like a sealant does on paint. Once dry there is no residue left behind like there is with traditional dressings. It can even be used on wheels/rims and has anti-static abilities.

one thing about this ice stuff; you can use it on any part nof the car, except maybe the glass, and it woprks fine, no residue, no dusting, nothing. wipe on wipe off, nice shine, great if you're in a hurry and just want to add a little pop to your shine. almost as easy as using a qd. i can't say \to abandon your oher products and use this exclusivly, but in a pinch oh yeah use it.:waxing:

I have a new 2500HD with the black flares. I used Black Wow on them and they look great. I diod make the mistake of putting Black Wow on my black steps on the nerf bars; it's much too slippery for that. Here are some pics, about half way down the page. It's a Victory Red Duramax and shows before and after pics Black WOW - Page 4 - ShowCarDetailing

Where do you get it (Black Wow)?

Also, does it run when wet?

Attract dust, etc?

Hard to get to look even?

Thanks

I use armor all tire gel on trim and am getting around 3 to 4 weeks out of it. Even through rain it stays on. Great product for the price.

I have used Ice on black trim before and it works great. If you want extra durability, try trim & motor kote from sonus. I have seen it last 4+ weeks, YMMV.

May I ask: are you buffing the dressings after you put them on? I use 303 on my trim (well, haven't had the opportunity to for several weeks so I'm sure its long gone by now :( ), but always make sure to buff it with a MF towel about 30 minutes after I put it on (or whenever I'm done with everything else).

Otherwise, as you said, it will take on an uneven appearance... and really don't want to think about what would happen in the rain!
