Turtle Wax F21

I picked up some Turtle Wax F21 super protectant spray at pep boys. I used it on the interior, plastic vinyl and leather steering wheel. It says it will work on all these surfaces. Looks pretty good and not greasy. I was going to also use it on my leather seats because they are coated leather and I don't want to use leather conditioner. Any thoughts or opinions on this stuff?

You're a braver man than I, Gunga5spd. I looked at it on the shelf the other day at a store, it was at a bargain price and I'm always looking for bargain detailing items. But I didn't pick it up, perhaps unconsciously thinking it'll be shiny and greasy like Armorall from 1976.
It looked good? Shiny, almost shiny, matte, blingy? Also let us know if it's durable?

Right or wrong, anything with the Turtle Wax name on it has no appeal to me. They may have some good products, but the one I will always remember is the liquid wax in the glass bottle. It needed to be reapplied at every wash to make your car look good. One bottle was enough for me.

Again, right or wrong, there is a lot of thought that leather conditioner is not only of no value on coated leather, it might even be harmful. :dunno:
 
I will let you know how it holds up. So, far so good but I am a little skeptical of it. The price is low so I figured can't hurt to try it(At least I hope it doesn't hurt anything).
 
I've used it since it came out in the 90's. I like it better than Armor All. It's shiny without a lot of the slickness. It's also more durable than Armor All.
 
Its been over a month, really holding up well and nice look to it, not greasy. I like it a lot better than some other pep boys interior protectants like armour all, black magic, etc. I'm really surprised about it being a turtle wax product. I think I'll keep using it.

Not all products called leather conditioners are really leather "conditioners."

The recommendation for coated leather is a water based protectant. Someone said just treat it more like vinyl but given that coated leather has a urethane coating sprayed on a flexible surface I assume it warrants extra care.

Some leather conditioners do not contain really any oil such as 4* (per 4*). I use this and it does not leave a slippery finish. Many conditioners and plastic care products like Optimum Protectant Plus) probably have a oily like consistency to allow for easy spreading.

I had some Meg's stuff and the seats felt slimy for a few days so I stopped using it.
 
I had some Turtle Wax 2001 protectant years ago and I thought it was the greatest and I guess they quit making it and I found some F21 and I don't think it is as good as the 2001 was.
 
I don't clean my interior but 2-3 times a year because it stays pretty clean but when I do I prefer to use a product with UV protection .
Does this product offer any UV protection?
 
Bruce Lee was asked about a technique from a student, he replied - "If it works, use it" That's my motto about detailing products. And I'd like to add that TW and Mothers get overlooked too much by the boutique crowd, but's thats ok it ain't my money!

Mothers may be considered OTC but only a limited number of products are available OTC so in many respects has to be ordered through the mail which is one key aspect of "boutique".
 
I actually like the stuff. When I first got into detailing this is what I used on the dash. I've moved on to better products, but its good for Pep Boys stuff.
