Turbo Tax

Does anybody here have experience with using Turbo Tax or any of its competitors? What's the ease of use? Accuracy? Would you recommend it? Thanks.

I've used Turbo Tax Deluxe for the past 4 years. With the rebates the purchase cost is low. Programs are very easy to use, you can do comparisons to see what sort of return you would get with different deductions. I've never had any trouble with my returns. One nice feature is that by using year after year it enters your data from the previous year so you save a lot of time.

ditto on pretty much everything stated here

Well worth the purchase if you itemize your taxes. It's fairly simple to use. The software walks you through the entire process. I have been using it for at least 10 years. I even use it for my business.

Filing electronically means you'll get your refund back super fast. And as previosuly posted if you use it year after year it really builds a nice format that fills in a lot of the information for you. Personally I think that when you submit using Turbo Tax the odds on getting audited are smaller. My theory is that the software does so much of the work that mistakes are greatly reduced.

We've been using it for several years, even for my wife's business - she's a self employed Private Investigator - and it works great as stated by others here. I have very limited experience with a competitor, Kipplinger Tax Cut. I tried it one year because I got a great deal on the software, but when the bottom line told me we owed $14,000 I just knew something was wrong. I tried everything, even starting from scratch, but it just wasn't taking the majority of my wife's home office deductions. I picked up a copy of Turbo Tax and ran through that - we ended up owing around $900 or so, which was closer to what I was expecting. Needless to say, I'm never doing that again!

I've been pondering the purchase of Turbo Tax, but I have a few questions:

Do you need one copy of the software per each person to file in the household, or is it one copy per household?

I have to file a sole-proprietorship Schedule C-EZ/Short Schedule SE in addition to my 1099 interest forms, plus my standard W-2 form, does Turbo Tax support all of these?

Thanks!

Last year they experimented with a single install policy whereby you had to activate the product to use it, similar to Windows XP, but they took so much flak and had so many complaints that they did away with the practice this year. I have already installed it on both my desktop and laptop. You can file multiple returns with a single copy of the software and I know a few people who do their taxes and several family members, all with a single installation of Turbo Tax.

As for your business tax needs, it looks as though you'll covered: have a look at the Business Products on their website, www.turbotax.com

Thanks for the information!

I checked out Turbo Tax Basic and Deluxe at Wally World and it appears I need Premiere to file my Schedule-C.
