Trying to get the WETTEST, DEEPEST look on black paint?

Well guys, I just spent the entire last weekend detailing my F150 for the 1st time. I used a PC for the 1st time, and was very impressed with the results. Heres what I did:

1) Wash with Eagle one car wash

2)Meguiars clay with QD

3)Meguiars Dual Action Cleaner Polish / Yellow cutting pad

4)Meguiars #9 Swirl remover / White Polishing Pad

5)Meguiars NXT / Grey Finishing Pad

Now I must say, it looks pretty damm good, but its not the look I was trying to achieve. My truck is black, and now it looks like a black mirror!!

Based on my situation right now, what should I use to get a "LIQUID LOOK" for my truck? I'm considering using some #26 or Poorboys natty paste wax on top of the NXT, but want some opinions.

I'm also reading about Meguairs #7, and it sounds pretty good for a Wet look. Anyone ever used this?

Try some Meguiar's #16, Pinnacle Souveran, etc. for a deep liquid look.

I don't see any need for #7.

My opinion is unless you're taking the car to the show tomorrow, don't use #7. It gives a lot of depth to the paint but for a brief flash : )

Do a panel with the Natty Wax.

Do a panel with Meg #26

See which one you perfer.

If you like the #26, you will really like Pinnacle Souveran on black.

Better yet, get some Meg Final Detail QD and that will make your NXT deeper and wetter especially on black. :wavey

Update: I went down to the NAPA auto parts store and got them to order me some #16 paste wax, and # 7 glaze.

I know the #7 is kinda useless, but I wanna try it out. It was only like 12 bucks anyways. Maybe I'll post pics in a week or so when i get around to applying it.

I have used #5 #7, #26, P21S, Wolfgang, and others I can't recall on my Jet Black BMW, but there is nothing I like better than just the Klasse twins after meticulously prepping the paint. And I think it stays looking good longer with Klasse than with the other products. Just my current thought, but I have been experimenting since I bought the car in Dec. 2002.

Souveran has given it as wet a look as I have seen on my black. A clsoe second was GEPC and S100 ( see link in signature )

Although the VM / EX-P is a pretty wet look as far as sealants go

A lot of different combos but deepest wettest try SOUVERN on black(the paste) wait 2 days and give another coat then call me in the morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Although I have not tried Souveran, I have got some nice results with other products.

Hope this helps :)

If you want deep, liquid black, my first suggestion would be Clearkote's Vanilla Moose topped with Pinnacle Souveran. Lower cost options would be VM topped with Carnauba Moose, Poorboy's EX w/carnauba, or Meguiars #26.

EX-P or Meguiars #16 will give you are more clear wet look but won't be quite as deep looking.

What ALAN81 said... Since your interested in using #7, as others have said skip it and use the klasse twins underneath your souveran. I think(know) you will like the results better...

PPCL/Souveran x2 has been the best looking on black for me but is of limited life. Klasse twins and Souveran makes for a very deep, very black (not silvery at all), wet paint with very good reflectivity. It would be the daily driver combo. I can see that it is something special even when my black Lincoln gets dirty. My combo is AIO x2/SG x3/Souveran x2.

When light does not hit it, it is like the Void of Nothingness. But when light reflects back to my eyes, whether from other objects or an external light source, it is very reflective. The black paint seems to be even blacker.

Personally, i really like #81 followed by #16. Looks really nice (i cant tell much of a difference between #16 and #26, but i've never done a side-by-side of em, so i dont know for sure) and it lasts a lot longer than #26 does.
