Trying to finish off my site

I've setup the basic structure, and am making final adjustments. The wording on the home page, and pricing page is not final. For the pricing, it will have a menu where you select your type of car, size ect, and then just basically it will give you a general quote.

Links and tips for car care will be added eventually as well. Gallery is being finalized, so I just through this up for now. Let me know what you think.

EDIT*** Please follow the homepage link in my profile to find the site in question.

Very clean and sharp. You're off to a great start.....sheesh now I need to update my website cause now everyones got a nicer one than mine :(

Great idea and start....BUT...

I have seen your work and read you threads...I think you are really underpricing yourself. You do far better work than your pricing refelects.

Tips? Will they lead to your private labeled products?

Not trying to say anything bad about your site but you should be in the 250.00 range for the work you do? :xyxthumbs

Haha, thanks man. I can't really charge that much, since it is out of my home, and I have VERY low over head costs. Don't get me wrong, I'd really like to. Maybe I'll change the xxx-xxx, to something like $XXX and up.

Tips and tricks are mostly there for the customers that already have a well prepped vehicle. Basically just how to wash properly ect.

Nice site but as someone said, you are to cheap! Damn here in Sweden a lousy detail with 2 step polish and wax would cost around $200.

Looks good I say just needs a few things like resolution size or

layout? Instead of centering have it lay to the left side? you are saying

Steve's detailing three times on the home page needs something else on the main

page ph# who you are, what you do, we all know what detailing is but many people

don't know what detailing is?

I would get my own domain name sample Stevesdetailing.com and put it on a server

cost less then $100.00 a year.

Put description and keywords in the source code for search engines.

On the source code title how about just putting Steve's Detailing instead of Welcome to.

Anyway great job looks good

Super,

Why does he want butt in his meta keyword search?

Good points by Super. I disagree though that it can't stay centered. Or it can be on the left, just make the information that you want to stand out clear and easily read. I thought the pricing font was a bit small, and wasn't easily read. I know you said pricing wasn't set, but as a person who does a ton of shopping over the Internet, I can't stand when I'm not given exact pricing. I'll go as far as look to see if someone else has the product or service in my area instead of calling. But that's just me.

A couple of issues that I found.

I'm using Firefox with a res of 1280x1024. On mine, when I press 'Links' your logo does not match up with the body of the page. As in the bars don't meet.

Also, there is a problem with the navigation. When I press samples, a sublevel comes out and says Samples. I hit samples, and I'm brought to the pics. Now when I hit the Links, the Samples sublevels come out with Car, Truck, SUVs, Misc. So this is obvious an issue. What are the links going to be anyway? Also, I think you can just show the samples instead of going to a sublevel. For me, if you did a car nice, I would guess that you would do my SUV nice.

About the picutre page, it took about 5 seconds for the first pic to load. It's obvious you are loading all the pics into cache so they come up when I press a thumbnail. Not a bad idea, problem is I'm downloading at about 5 Mbps. If you get someone with a slow connection, they might not wait for it all to load.

Also, no need to tell me that is Navigation. I think it's understood.

I agree with Super too, get your own domain, they are very cheap.

Ok, to explain myself a little bit more.

The navigation bar on the side is just a template, and will definatly be changed before the site goes live. I'm hoping to have it go something like:

-Home

-Gallery

-Pricing

-Contact

-Testimonials

-Tips and Tricks

Resolution I'd like to bump up to a 1280x1024, but the designer I am working with warned that the average user is still on 1024x786. I'm not sure what I should insist on.

Pricing like I said earlier, will be a menu with catagories such as: "Make, model, colour, year". This will lead them to a link with their specific car, and how much it will roughly cost. Then at the bottom I'll give the little, "no quotes are final until the vehicle is inspected" thing.

Now, the big problem is the gallery. I know, I know, I definatly won't have that as my final gallery. Takes way too long to load, and anyone on dial up would never be able to look at the pictures like that.

I'm also going to change up the home page. Give some info of what I do, how I came around to doing it, what influences me to do this ect.

As far as hosting, we'll see about that. I'm not sure if thats something I'm going to be considering, as this is nothing big. Don't make enough to justify spending money on hosting, but we'll see in the future.

Thanks for your help...

Steve, you can just host your site using the same site as you are now and just get a domain name like www.stevesautodetailing.com (...LoL its not taken, so its up for grabs until I buy it and charge you $1000 for it !) A domain name is less than $10/year or less than a $1/month and it woyuld easier for people to remember your sites URL.
