IMO your point about not stooping to their level is utterly valid and gets far too little serious thought. It is simply impossible for normal people to engage in certain behaviors without being changed by the experience and the abnormal people who can do it without issues shouldn`t be encouraged as they tend to develop a taste for it and otherwise, uhm...cause problems...for the rest of us. It`s all theoretical until somebody hands *you* the [tools of that trade] and *you* start the Enhanced Interrogation work, or until *you* are the subject.

IMO there are things that Humans shouldn`t do to each other. Period. I`m actually a bit of a Situational Ethicist, but there are still a few Moral Absolutes that IMO separate the Evil humans from the rest of us, and "Don`t torture people" is one of those Absolutes.

Hey, the thought occurs- Didn`t Jesus of Nazareth extol his followers to give up the "eye for an eye" in favor of "do[ing] unto others as you would have them do unto you"? Just checking as a lot of people go by his opinions on various subjects, though OTOH plenty of folks prefer to be Old Testament about certain things.

Yes, Jesus Christ said those words in Matthew 5:38-45.. And He also said "we must Love our enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them that despitefully use you and persecute you"..

He also taught that the first and greatest commandment was to "Love the Lord thy God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind"..
And the 2nd greatest commandment - "Love your neighbor as yourself"... (Matthew 22:35-40)

I have perfect faith and believe that if Everyone tried really hard to do just those 2 things^^, we would have a different outcome than what we have today..

And since we are where we are today with this Terrorist mess - illegally here or not - I firmly believe that if a person decides to shed innocent blood in the name of whatever religion, etc., by performing acts of terrorism in this Country, the United States of America, then that person/s do/does hereby relinquish their rights as a free, law-abiding citizen of this great land, and the full extent of the laws of this land are enforced immediately...

I do not worry about their "rights" any longer, because they willingly gave them up by shedding the blood of innocent people..

The very Scriptures also talk about condemnation for shedding innocent blood (Isaiah 59:7-8, 18) and worse condemnation for harming little children (Matthew 18:6)

I am confident that God in Heaven and His Son, who walked that very land Himself and was crucified there, will sort it all out, and it will be fair and just...

Yes, I read, re-read, thought much about your thoughts, and I am ok with them and certainly do not want to inflict cruelty on anyone either..

However, this is now a time of War against America, and actually the rest of the World..

And because these terrorists have declared it, then we must react proactively and defensively or continue to see innocent men, women, and children suffer or die...

Unfortunately, no amount of patience, love, kindness, peace offerings, etc., has proven to help here... Are they not on a mission to destroy and die in some warped kind of honor for it ??

So, what are we to do? Wait until they blow us up ??

We have to absolutely protect our families and loved ones and everyone else in our capacity, and join with our neighbors to help keep us all safe..

And for starters, these terrorists should absolutely have no rights as citizens of this country if they perform acts of terrorism on this soil...

The Prophet Isaiah thousands of years ago described these evil terrorists perfectly -- "Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood; their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are in their paths.." "The way of peace they know not; and there is no judgement in their goings; they have made them crooked paths; whosoever goeth therein shall not know peace".. (Isaiah 59: 7-8)

Stokdgs- It is *indeed* another subject that defies Easy Answers, and the answers we each come up with for ourselves aren`t always gonna be the same.

And *!NO!* I sure don`t take any offense at Reasoned Disagreement and IMO it`s simply gonna happen now and then, especially with topics like this one.

Guess I throw out Religious References just to get people thinking about any possible inconsitencies in their positions (not singling you out by any means, hope it didn`t come across that way)...nothing wrong with thinking in my book, and that`s all I want people to do.

I`m quite gratified that you gave thought to that post of mine that you quoted, especially since some time has passed since I posted it.
 
Since the Debate commission won`t let Hillary have a step stool to appear as tall as Trump.... Trump offered to lend a hand.
