Trouble with Perfect-It Swirl Mark Remover

Excellent results!! The PC, #83, #80, and #26 combo has met all my hopes!

Some people wonder why Meguiars is such a popular brand, but their products and customer support really are superior.

My hood now looks good for the first time in about a decade. I'll have to work on the rest of the car the next few evenings.

If any one wants an almost full bottle of 3M SMR, send me a PM.

I don't see what all the fuss is about 3m SMR...but helped the swirl considerably.

Yes, because it does a good job of filling your swirls, not removing them, after a few washes, your swirls will "magically" re-appear.

If a product is used that fills defects, either a polish/glaze or a wax, as that layer wears off from washing and the elements the fillers will wear away also. In this case the S100 would be a "protective" layer for the fillers in the SMR.

Afterwards i applied 2 coats of AIO with the finishing pad.

That being said, if you went over the SMR with two applications of AIO that would have removed any fillers left from the SMR, so if you finish looks good it's from your polishing, not from fillers (unless the S100 is doing some minor filling here).

..hmmmmm, interesting. I'm not at home but i could swear that the 3M says that there are no fillers or acrylics on the back of the bottle. It goes on to mention that it is a "pure polish" blah...blah...blah.

The Swirl Mark Remover for Dark/Light Cars (39009 & 39109) has fillers. The replacement (VOC friendly version) for PI III MG (Machine Glaze) is PI 3000 SMR, and it has no fillers, and is a very good polish. Perhaps that's what you used?

blackcaraddict, the swirls will re-appear even if i top it off with a wax (s100)??

Don't worry about it. SWR does remove very light swirls. Given that the M3 is rather new and well taken care of you probably only have very light swirls. The best way to tell is do you see the swirls under direct sunlight. If you do then the SWR only filled them and you need to step up to #80, SSR2, 3M PI MG, or IP. SWR is a good product for maintaining cars in good condition ie removing very light swirls.
