Tried a new wax

All this talk about sealants lasting longer than carnaubas might apply to most waxes but not Collinite Insulator Wax. This is the longest lasting product I have used period. It made a joke out of UPP and even held up better than Klasse SG. It is very easy to apply and remove and looks great. I would rate it's slickness up there with UPP but just slightly less on initial application. IW retains it's slickness much longer than UPP though. Also IW works well over anything. Don't have to worry about bonding issues like you do with a sealant.

I used a Collinite paste several years back and thought it was very difficult to work with. I used it twice and gave it away.

No IW does not stain trim. It's as easy as S100 to use but looks much glossier. The Paste, 476S Super Double Coat, is a PITA to use. The key is thin coats with a damp applicator and apply and remove one or two panels at a time. If you let it sit you will need to belt sand it off.

That sounds like the stuff I used. The IW is a liquid, isn't it?
Where is it available?
It might be worth a try since anything considered better than UPP and S100 would have to be pretty darned good.

Charles do a search on Autopia. Collinite, especially IW, is really getting a lot of positive feed back. Checkout what others have to say about it. Not much if any negative comments.


IW is a thick substance like apple sauce when you first buy it but heat and shaking the bottle thins it out nicely.

3M has a new product that you might like. It is some kind of Bucketless Wash. The way I use it is I spray down my car with water and then spray this product all over it. It is kind of like thin soap. Then when you hit the car with water again it foams up.

I buy it at Checker, but I've seen it at WalMart and just about everywhere else car care products are sold. It is a blue soap in a clear spray bottle. It's hard to miss. They have that tag on it that lets you send your receipt back for a rebate of the purchase price, so you really have nothing to lose by trying it.

Do you mean Eagle One's Bucketless Wash? (Blue, in a clear spray bottle, widely available.) I haven't seen anything like this from 3M. If it is from 3M, how much is it? (I can't use those rebates across the line. )

I saw the Eagle One bucketless wash at autozone the other day, and it had that rebate tag on it. I do believe that 3M has a bucketless wash as well (not sure) but I've only seen the EO stuff locally.

While the shipping was free at those places, they did add a "handling" charge.
Wasn't such a good deal afterall.
Seemed a little misleading so they are no longer on my vendor list.

Have to agree with MR OCD on the wash vs QD and wipe
I'd rather rinse my car really well first and then do an almost accumulator like wash method than use QD all over a well dusted car

However I do believe that some QD's do increase protection but only a little bit
1Z raindance after a perls wash, Menz HGAS, Sonus, DP gloss booster and more
Eimann fabrik 's new spray sealant sounds good too.

I also love collinite marque de elegance wax. Smells great and ultra durable, thankyou mike taylor
UPP is great but needs to be mixed with FMJ to keep it's slickness and improvide durability a little more
do prefer a multi layered sealant combo with a couple wax coats
Wonder if it can compete with what soft99 of japan has to offer
kizz clear, ultra glass coatings, authentic waxes for a light, dark and metallic paints.
Can't wait to get my hands on that stuff.

when I put my car in next weekends car show I will do a test between p21s, TOL pizzaz and collinite's waxes for shine, shimmer, wetness etc
