Tree Scratch

We had some big storms last week. As I was out driving yesterday there was a low hanging branch I didn't see in time and couldn't swerve into the other lane. It drug across the hood and roof of my 97 F150. About 4 lines the length of the hood and cab.

I used my Milwaukee rotary on the top of the cab with #83. Completely removed the scratches. First use of the rotary and slung stuff everywhere!!! Plus if I screwd it up, no one could see it. Used the PC on the hood with the #83 and a yellow pad and then Perfect It III Machine Glaze with a white pad. Scratches are gone, but some of the swirls and cobwebs still remain. Need to spend some more time on it I guess. Topped it off with #16. Will try again to do a better job in about a month. A lot of work travel for the next 3 weeks.

Any ideas as to why the #83 could remove the scratches but not the swirls from the hood?

I'm not real familiar with any of the Meguiars products , but if I had to make an educated guess , its more of an aggressive type of product . Removing the bad scartches but leaving behind some light swirling and marring. Try stepping down in product ( course to fine )after using something aggressive. Maybe something like a #82 Meguiars or #81. Again I'm not familiar how Meguiars products work , but you get the idea of what I'm saying . Good luck

Appreciate all the input. I'll try the white pad next time. I did use the Perfect It III Glaze after the #83 on the Hood. I thought that was supposed to be milder than the #83?

PI III MG is milder than DACP. I've found at times even it just doesn't get out all the marring left behind especially if you only did one pass with it. Sometimes this is just the nature of this product with the PC. Using my dreaded halogens today, I wanted to corrrect some flaws so I tried PI III MG with a PC and white pad first; didn't get everything out. For me, 1z MP worked notably better, it took less time to break down and even after a wipe down with isopropyl alcohol it did indeed remove the marring.
