Treating Clear Bra

I had Clear Bra put on the front of my car the day I picked it up. That was before I learned a lot about detailing here.

I am still glad I did as rock chips from daily highway driving drive me crazy with my other cars. Speeds out west here are legally 57 mph in many places, so even particles of sand blowing across the road cause damage. I thought the Clear Bra would be a good solution.

While it is mostly invisible, I am now concerned how I can get the most consistent polish job possible over the whole car. For those who have such a treatment, what do you do? Polish/wax the material just like the rest of the car, in other words, treat it like a (soft) clear coat?

If not, will the protected area end up looking duller than a good detail over the rest of the car?

Chan,

The Invisishield you have is an amazing addition to the protection of your car. Many of my clients have this placed on their cars and one client hit a bird at 125 mph and no damage to the car....the bird is a different story!

You can wash, polish and wax the "clear bra" just as you can the rest of the car BUT I highly recommend that you purchase a roll of "painters" BLUE "low tack" masking tape and when detailing the car apply a strip just slightly over the edge of the clear bra and onto the paint. This will ensure that no wax and polish builds up along the fine edge which can be a real eye sore down the road.

Then when detailing the clear bra make sure you also mask the edges. The low tack ensures that any adhesive residue left over can be easily cleaned. Another word of advise would be to clean, polish and wax the clear bra with kid gloves. I have in the past used a PC to polish some of this material and you can do the same but make sure you use a polishing or finishing pad and never a cutting pad.

I always polish the clear bra with nothing more abrasive than Meguirs #3 or 9. Plexus also works very well on a NEW shield.

Hope that helps.

If you get a wax buildup along the edges of the clearbra, you can use Q tips that have been dipped in a liquid[water, detailing mist] and then remove this buildup with the Q tip!. Works on my X-pel which is the same product.

I would reccomend do what the others guys have said. Also I would tape the edges of the product before waxing also. My choice is Plexus for shine. Every six months I wax the product

You can use just about any good quality wax on the product after it has cured. I have even used a buffer on it, but you need to know how to use one really well.
