Trashed Porsche Carrera makeover (56K warning)

Car in check is a 1995 Porsche Carrera. It has seen better days, but better than some year 95' cars I have seen. When I saw the car at first about a month or two ago it didn't look to bad. I dont know what happened in those two months, but the car came to me and it was trashed. There wasn't really any shine or gloss to it, just sort of a dull matte look to the paint. Front end has a ton of rockchips on it, probably needs to be repainted. Also some various deep scratches all over the car that I just couldn't get out. Seems as though some parts have been repainted as well, terrible orange peel on the lower portions of the car. A Porsche doesn't deserve to be treated like that, especially a 95 Carrera. Im still in the learning curve of the PC, so im sure with a bit more experience, I could have gotten more done.

My neighbor came over this morning and commented on how nice it looked, and couldn't believe it was a 95' and the paint still looked that good. He wanted me to come over and detail his Camry for him, and will be gladly offering my services to him. The Carrera took me a little over 14 hours to do. Charged him $150, who knows what he will end up actually giving me. You wouldn't believe some of the crap I pulled off this paint. I will let the pictures do the talking.

Here she is, just after pulling into my garage.

That was just mindboggling. :( How anyone can let a Carerra get in that condition is unbelievable. It looks like it was washed with steel wool or those brushes at the car wash bays. I can see where you spent 14 hours on it, it doesn't even look like the same car. I'd be interested in what products you used also. Still having a hard time with how dirty your clay became, wow! :2thumbs:

Process..

OHC via LC Yellow cutting pad

OP via Mgrs Yellow polishing pad

RMG via LC black finishing pad

EX via LC black finishing pad

CMW via LC black finishing pad

I just got a fresh tin of #16 I really wanted to try, but I wanted the deep/wet look of CMW on the car. Could I have put #16 over CMW?

Gave it your all and it shows!!!!

Is that paint single stage? (looking at the clay)

Nope. It had a clearcoat, but I still got some black paint on my pads from oxidation/dead paint.

Also, big ups to a forum sponsor Jon @ DecoCarCare.com. I realized that I didn't have much CMW left before the detail, and he sent me out some at the discounted price ($11.25), next day shipping free of charge. They've got some good clearance deals going on ClearKote stuff. Me and Jon talked for about an hour about detailing lol, great guy to deal with.

How would you get black paint on the clay if the car is clearcoated?

Even if the clearcoat is oxidized, it would not transfer black paint.

me=confused

No clue, but my pads turned a little bit black as well.

Great job......very nice car , too.

Owner ought'a be shot for letting it get like that.....

but , then , if they all took care of 'em , they wouldn't need us !
