Wassup DCers...loooong time no see.

Anyone own a Trailblazer SS? I am going to get one but cannot decide between RWD and AWD.

I have a Trailblazer 4x4 now and have used the 4x4 like 3 times in two years..even living in cleveland...I was all set on the awd but doing a little research found that the rwd is faster, puts less stress on the tranny has a lil better mileage and is pretty good in bad weather with the traction control and stabilitrack...

anythoughts?

BEEMER wassup?

yeah - been thinking that too and would probably curse the day it snowed 20 inches again if I didn't get it...

but... all the ls1 forums seem to think the rwd is just hella more fun to drive, is lighter puts less stress on the drivetrain etc.. and to put it in persecptive my end cost

if I go full out all options +nav and dvd - about 20K (afte employee discount 8K off and trade)

or 14K for ss awd
12K for ss rwd...

does it come with cake  :D

I'd go with the RWD ..it will handle better, besides if you spend all that $$$ on a SS you're not going out in bad weather

Sounds like you've made up your mind already....IMO either one would be good...but to save 2k would also be good

Resale value would be better on the AWD now wouldnt it? We had cake on your birthday but you didnt stop by. HAHA!

I would definitely go with the RWD. AWD hurts your top end, gas milage and the prices for parts is more trannies, etc. If any work has to be done under the motor it's alot more because of the space restrictions. Usually the front axle has to be dropped. Maybe just invest in some snow tires if you feel the need.

yeah I would like leather but my only option is to get the dvd and the nav and all that - (down to the last few 08's) so PB you think a RWD would be better ?

true but with a 100K powertrain warranty I am not looking to pay for any transmission or eng work LOL

definitely go RWD ... I'm sure you are not going to go out in deep snow and try and gun it... you also might want to get a beater for those really bad days with that same 2K or less .. then you get the best of both worlds and some extra money for a big cake

Okay so here are the numbers forgetting the high end leather dvd nav one - lol resale - cars are a loss investment...unless you get a collectors :)

30827 - rwd
32126 - awd

cost diff is 1299

all i can say ..it's a lot of money either way and you could buy a lot of cake with that much :rofl:lol2:

The AWD system wold be covered under that powertrain warranty, so I don't know if the extra wear would be a concern. Regular maintenance with quality fluids would reduce any "extra" wear and tear.

Go with AWD. It's not just with snow that the extra traction comes in handy. It makes all driving conditions a bit safer and easier.

$1299 extra when new.
$1,000 extra value on a 2005. Per NADA.
$299 for three years or less than $100 a year for the AWD.
Chances are, it will sell much quicker with AWD when you are ready to move it.

Obviously, it's your choice, but I would go for the AWD.
