Trade Secret Testimonial

What combo to use next?
Hey Guys,

I just wanted to reiterate how much TOL's Trade Secret is the BOMB. I am officially up to 8 coats now, and MAN what a shine! They say that each layer deepens the color...that's for damn sure!
I'm Frickin' exhausted...but Irene has challenged me to do 10 coats...I MUST PREVAIL!

P.S.-I have almost achieved 0.0% Swirlies!

jeff.

That looks awesome! I too have become a recent fan of TS! Very nice stuff! Easy to apply and remove!

How did you prep the paint?

Well,

Steps were:

Detergent Wash
Clay Bar
Detergent Wash
HiTemp Light Cut Polish (Swirl Remover) x 2
Klasse Sealant Glaze
Trade Secret Wax x 8

Frozen,

I used the Hi-Temps light cut before the SG. Yes, the SG bonds well, but its difficult to remove. The Light cut is strong stuff, and it's much more work than AIO. I just prefer the use of clay bar and a strong swirl removing polish like light cut to really bring out what my paint is capable of before I seal that shine under that protective layer. I think that using AIO after the Light Cut is unnecessary, and possibly counter-productive.

Keep in mind, my paint ISN'T brand new, and It's a daily driver. After the SG, wax, wax, and wax some more. Zaino users--beware of the shine! Worth the effort, if you ask me.

Where to get it:

You'll be able to find the Light cut toward the bottom of the page...yep, that's ol' Blue up there again! :)

Jeff.

Boss,

Don't underestimate the time necessary to apply and remove the TS. Yes, it's super simple, but time creeps up on ya, especially when you're kickin it with some friends on a nice day, listening to some tunes while "buffin and b.s.'n" I especially like the smell of the TS. Kinda strange at first, but once it's on the car the scent is intoxicating--I think you'd agree.

Bring on SATURDAY!
Onward to 10 coats!

I challenge the other TS users to layer up as well!

:D

Yep.............. and sipping a "cold one" between each panel also increases the time necessary to apply and remove the stuff! :D

Again, it looks great. I've heard that the TS doesn't give dark colors any "POP"............... obviously that's not completely true by the looks of your vehicle!

Question about light cut

First off, car looks great!

Question, I bought some Hi-Temp Light Cut to use on a Black Toyota Celica I'm doing next week. Does it work ok with a PC or do you need a rotary to break it down? I have some 3MSMR for Dark Cars available, and which has worked ok for me before. I also have some Einzatt on its way I would like to try real soon. But before I decide which to use, I wanted to get your feedback on the Light Cut.

Thanks, and again, awesome job!

SamIam

I'll jump in a give my .02 on the HT Light Cut. I'm relatively new to professional-type detailing, but I really like the HT LC. I used it with a PC on a silver truck and dark blue car. Both came out very nice and smooth. It was easy to use and went on and off nicely. Does a good job in just one pass depending on the condition of the vehicle (which also depends on which tool you choose: PC or rotary).

In comparison, the only other SMR-type products I have used have been the Menzerna Intensive and Final Inspection (I did not like this combo much at all) and the Poorboys SSR1, SSR2, and SSR3 (I like these as well as the Hi Temp). So, take my limited opinion for what it's worth (.02 :D ).

SamIam:

I'm glad rtbrick chimed in on this one. I do all my work by hand. So if those with buffers want to give you advice, they'd probably be the ones to answer your questions.

I will let you know that 3M products however, are great. I used them in the following order:

Detergent Wash
Clay Bar
Detergent Wash
3M Swirl Mark Remover for Dark Colored Cars
3M Imperial Hand Glaze
3m Show Car Wax---CRAP so, I went with
Zymol Cleaner Wax

I wasn't THAT impressed with the SMR, but the Imperial Hand Glaze is good stuff(VERY HARD TO WORK WITH), and the Show Car Wax sucks ass, so I used Zymol Cleaner Wax. Others have said it might have taken some of the IHG off, but cleaner wax isn't that abrasive. Attached is a pic of that process' results.

BTW, What's Einzatt?

Jeff.

Jeff, Einszatt is

a line of products developed in Germany. I have seen some great results (in pictures) and heard a lot of positive feedback from users regarding Einszatt's line of polishes, wax and interior care products. Their Glanz wax is a synthetic wax that goes on like water and solidifies on the car, according to what I hear. The polishes are supposed to work well with a Porter Cable Random Orbital. The interior stuff supposedly leaves a matte finish, like a new car. I'm always up for trying something new!

Right now, I use Poorboys EX, Platinum and S100, and am happy with all. I have a test going on on my black Audi A8's hood. Have it split into quarters with Platinum, Klasse AIO & SG, Meguirs #26 and Poorboys EX. Been there for about 4 weeks and all are still beading. Will wash tomorrow and update results.

SamIam

Geez, keep me updated on those results! And how, pretell, do us non-Germans get our hands on the Einzatt products?
