Towels

I have some DF towels I got last summer for when I used Zaino on my 350Z. Some of the towels have some stains on them and are looking alittle wore out. I only used them to take wax and polish off. How long are towels for using on paint good to use still? I just want to make sure I am not causing any scratches on the paint from the towels I use. Also, how long are waffle weave towels good for if they are still looking good? Thanks

Josh, as long as they feel comfortable to the touch, continue using them. Stains are irrelevant, just an annoyance more then anything....

In my experience the (safe) work-life cotton towels can vary enormously. If they don't seem soft (or pass the CD-test if you subscribe to that) then replace them. I have cotton bath towels that are a decade old..they're softer than much newer ones from the same vendor :nixweiss

A DFT oughta pass the CD test. If I had any question about one of those I'd send it to DF Towel/Leo and see what he says about it. Yeah, it'd be a hassle and an expense and you wouldn't have the towel...but I'd still do it.

A stain is merely appearance. If the towel still feels soft and is working for you, then keep it. If it's really ratty and you're not comfortable using it, then toss it. Hey, it's only money and in relative terms, towels are cheap.

I ordered then of the 100% cotton polishing cloths from Griots and they should be here today. I hope they are worth the price. Does anyone have any experience with them? Also, I have heard that it is best to use pure white 100% cotton towles to dry with. Colored towels aledgedly leave a film from the color die.....any truth to this?
