Tough challenge

I figured it was about time I tried my hand at something a little more challenging than my own three vehicles, which are all in pretty good shape now. I’ve been practicing on them for about 5 weekends… and it’s getting a little boring.

My neighbor Matt, who hangs drywall for a living, uses his ’98 Tacoma as a daily work truck. This poor vehicle was covered in mud blobs, over-spray and oxidation from three years of being parked at numerous job sites. It looked like a total loss and it will need re-painting and body work eventually due to all the dings, dents and deep scratches.

However, I saw it as a great way to try out my newly acquired Autopian skills on the paint and trim… I gave Matt a quick lesson in claying and in about an hour he got all the over-spray off. I followed behind him with the PC and SMR, next was Autoglym Resin and finally Autoglym Extra Gloss. I used Stoners Trim Shine on all the plastic and rubber, then EO on the tires.

It’s not quite ready for the concours, but not bad for an ‘ol work truck. :xyxthumbs

:up Looking good!

Kinda makes all that effort worthwhile when you end up with results like that, doesn't it?

What Charles said. Keep up the good work. That is one of the reason I detail, the end result. I just completed a similar project, I need to take pictures.

jaojoby, very great job! Happy to hear that AG does give it a great shine! Thumbs up for the SRP+EGP combo! :up

Great work :up How long did you leave the Resin Polish on for before buffing and how many layers of Extra Gloss were used.

Once again, nice work

I really appreciate all the kind words.... :D and I really like the results I get with Autoglym. My local detail supply shop is a regional distributor for AG, so they have a great selection and decent prices. If Matt keeps it clean all week then I might give it a coat S100 this weekend just to see what happens.
