touch up paint

First of all I would like to say that I am a noob at auto detailing and badly needs some advice on fixing a couple of chips. I have a little bottle of touchup paint that the dealer gave me when i bought my car(the ones with the little brush). So before i screw anything up, is there any prep work i need to do before applying the touchup paint? Also I understand that there needs to be some clearcoat on top. Is the clear already mixed in the touchup paint or do I need to buy it seperately? Any details would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

yeah there can be a lot of prep work. Is there any rust in the chipped area? if so you need to clean it out. Also use a good prep product such as prepsol or I use Hi-temp tar and wax remover to remove the wax and crud out of the area. Use a fine brush or tootpick or something with a fine point on it, not the brush that come with the bottle....actually I am going to paste a link to you in a second after I find it rather than type this all out.

Denatured alchohol is not the same as rubbing alchohol at all . MUCH stronger .

They sell it at Wal-Mart and HomeDepot and I believe AutoZone also
