Touch Up Paint?

I came out to my car today and what a surprise I found! Although I parked very far away from the car next to mine, some moron decided to ding their door against mine. So now there is a good little size ding in the rear passenger door. Does anyone have any suggestions to cover this up? Is touch up paint effective?

Also, if I know who did it, is there anything I can do about it? I mean, insurance, anything like that? Some would say "it's just a ding," but to us car enthusiasts, it's way more than that. Some people should just have more respect for other people's property!

Go see a paint-less dent removal service and see if they can remove the ding.

I'm sorry, maybe I should clarify. I said "ding," but I didn't mean a dent. What I was trying to say was that they dinged the paint up. There are several marks in a line where it happened that go through the basecoat down to the primer. That's why I was wondering if anyone has ever used touch up paint and if it was effective or not.

Thanks for everyone's imput!

Do a search on paint chip repair/ scratch repair. There alot of helpful threads about this topic already.

Thanks for the input! Especially you TrueDetailer. I did a search and found some great articles (one of them yours I think, or maybe it was just another red 04 F150). Anyway, I believe I'm going to order the Langa set as well as the touch up paint from PaintScratch.com. Thanks again!
