top upp with what?

i want to top upp with a carnauba, which would u guys recommend would be the best on my red 98 ram. i would prefer a liquid but it dont really matter and anything but paste souveran, its just too expensive for my daily driver. and would apply with a pc.
 
Poorboys Nattys is what most use around here.

Also try doing a search on it as this has been covered a hundred times and you'll find alot more waxes that people use.

Why do you want to top UPP? It's probably the slickest product around and you will just lose that if you top it.

Do you top sealents with a wax?

I don't see why you wouldn't. You get the durability of a sealent with the looks of a carnauba. Of course everyone has a right to their opinion.

I am not questioning the logic of topping sealants with waxes. I am questioning why some one would want to top UPP specifically.

Yes I have topped sealants with a wax. I do it for the same reason every body else does. To get the durability of a sealant and the look of a carnauba. The thing with UPP though is that it is incredibly slick and when I top it, no matter what I top it with, it loses some slickness because there are not many if any products out there that are as slick as UPP. UPP also has a carnauba look to it more so than other sealants I have tried. It's the one sealant I don't top with anything.
 
I like a coat or two of UPP topped with EX.

You get the carnuba look (EX has some carnuba in it), + the polymer protection.

I think Steve said the red truck in the link below has this combo on the paint.

It inspired me to try it on our black truck a few seasons ago. It's a very nice look on red and black paint.

A few years back, I used S100 Carnauba as a topper over UPP. It looked good. S100 also doesn't stain black plastic trim.

FWIW, I didn't feel the benefit was worth the effort.
The S100 was very easy to apply and remove, but if I wanted to add more UPP, I needed to use a paint cleaner to remove the carnauba before using the UPP. I decided to just skip topping the UPP and add a coat of UPP each month.
Klasse AIO topped with UPP was very close to the carnauba look for me and easy to maintain with the UPP each month.

Yea. UPP does not need a topper. Of course I suggest you still venture to find out for yourself.

I've had the same situation with Zaino. I figured "just imagine how it would look with souveran over it". Even with Souveran (one of the ebst carnubas), I didn't gain anything using it over Zaino. If anything, I lost more. I could layer anymore. I lost the Zaino Slickness.

But like I said. Try it.

Yes thats another reason to maybe not top UPP or any sealant for that matter. Once you do top it your done as far as adding more sealant unless you use a paint cleaner and start over.

There is also the strong possibility that the carnauba wax and the solvents in it will degrade the sealant and then it defeats the purpose of topping in the first place. I think even Zaino claims not to top their sealant with a wax because it can shorten the durability of Zaino.
 
Well if you are still looking for a liquid wax that you can top the UPP with Adams Butter Wax its a liquid and dose a great job.


In as long as I have been posting and reading here, there has been little logic in what some will do to their cars.....Using a carnauba on top of UPP or multiple layers of EX topped with 3 coats of Natty's (overkill) Wet sanding a new car because of swirls.

What I have found is we all have our idiosycrasy about what we like to do in our obsession over our cars.

Top UPP with another layer of UPP.............I agree with Charles. It doesnt get much easier........

i think im gonna try nattys blue, pink wax, or max wax and if i like the looked of upp layered better ill use it. im always up for trying new detailing products, and its not like one of those carnaubas would go to waste i would definately use it some how
 
I topped my with NB :bigups. btw once you top UPP with carnauba you can't layer again with a sealant..
 
You people topping UPP don't you find UPP to be the slickest product out there? How can you bring yourself to top it with something else? If you need to apply another coat of something for whatever reason use UPP again.
