Too much... what to do?

Detail time!
Hey everyone. I have been a member here for over 3 years now and that's a problem- I have too much stuff. I have all kinds of detailing products and many of them I don't use anymore. These include Black Magic, Dupont, some Megs stuff, various brushes, sponges, soaps, waxes, tire shine, etc. etc. etc. Does this happen to everyone?? What do you do when you have a lot of good products that you don't use anymore?? I know that selling and trading on this site isn't allowed so do I just take the hit and throw away good products? EBAY? Try to give it to local people, friends, family? Some of the things, old brushes and crappy tire shine I won't have a problem throwing away but its the good products like Megs #9 or samples of Mothers cleaner wax make me cringe throwing away.

My products are getting cluttered with so many things and I don't know what to do with them. So I'm not really sure where this thread will go but let's talk about what you do with unused products that are just finding dust in your basement. Thanks for listening and any help.

I have given away a lot of "extra" supplies and such over the last couple of years. It won't hurt to give the stuff you won't be using to someone who might get some benefit from it. It might get them into the whole detailing world as well.

I have a closet full of products. Some get used often and some haven't been used in a *long* time.

I've started to do some product trading on other boards. Helps change things up a bit.

find other forums that would let you sell or trade.
DC used to have a forum where you could do that. I wonder what happened to it?

Autopia would be a good place to start. Start a thread tell what you have and what you would like to do. They even started a thread with all they different trades/sales the made and rated the trader just like you would do on ebay.Maybe other members may have something you dont and would offer a trade or an out right purchase. try it i think this will help budman..

I am with Jared on this one. If you have a lot of products that you do not know what to do with....Just give them away. Especially if they of quality but not necessarily the kind of product that you want to have on hand. I know I gave away some nice carnuaba wax last year not because it was not good . I did it because someone else could use a good wax just as much as me.

Being generous is an imediate gratification kind of thing. Just do it to be nice. Random acts of kindness are hard to beat.

some times you find a new user who is asing for "what to use"

why not PM them and say hey i got XYZ and i'll send you some for you to try..

Hi Why not try packaging up and sell on ebay, be careful of hazardous shipping charge on some but I think you could come out pretty good. Good Luck

ebay is an option but i think it may be more aggrevation then its worth.

Patric Holland & CWCAD offered good advice. I say this because there are many people who join forums who would like to try a sample of one product or another, also some are school kids and can't afford some items.

In the end its self rewarding..

I agree! The world could use more random acts of kindness!

LOL Why does everyone want to pick on me now?? I'm a good girl I am! :) You could always sell them on Ebay or Abay.

I just find a use for the stuff that I don't need anymore. Either that or I just toss it. If it is stuff you can buy off the shelf then it has zero resale value to anybody. Why would someone end up paying the price it would cost for a full bottle by the time they pay for shipping on half a bottle? Either use it or toss it. Half used OTC detailing products are pretty useless if you don't have a need for them.
