Too good to be true!!

I was just emailed the UPS return delivery label info. Here's something interesting. It came from pkginfo@ups.com. It was requested by AutoGeek. Are the AutoGeek,Pinnaclewax & Wolfgang websites affiliated??? Apparently so. just goes to show you learn something new everyday.

Yes, max has connections between all of those sites. IIRC back to the detail fest, max said that he gets all future pinnacle products while the older ones belong to someone else. Wolfgang is also his line. same with DP.

Nice call on your part. I know that was probably a hard call to make.. but you did right!

A couple years ago I came home to find about $6k worth of lighting fixtures dropped on my front step and spilling out into the yard. I about dropped when I saw it. Turned out I have an "address buddy" that has an address that is only one letter off of mine!

I had to move all that stuff into my garage so it didn't get ripped off, then call the trucker and have them come back the next day, in which I had to take half a day off to meet them. All said and done I got nothing out of the deal but a good story. :D Oh well. as Earl says.... Karma man... it's gonna catch up to ya!

Legally, you don't have to return it since it wasn't your mistake. However it is the right thing to do returning it. :)

Im calling them tomorrow and asking where my PC is lmao !

You did the right thing, but i would have said, send that label here with a bottle of wax attached to it :xyxthumbs

They probably will...they're typically generous when handling these mishaps. :up

I started this thread within 10 minutes of receiving my order from Pinnacle. I had every intention of notifying them of their mishap from the get go. Now some may take some shots at me for this, but I was curious as to how many Autopians would have kept the pc & said nothing. I've been checking back into this thread from time to time today ( my day off from work) only to learn what I'd suspected all along. Autopians have integrity! It's nice to see that the majority of the replies to my post indicate that you all would do the same thing! Kudos to all! I'm shipping the free pc back tomorrow knowing I'm returning something of great value that never belonged to me in the 1st place. Thanks to all who've shared their input.

Since the PC is such expensive equipment that most places aren't going to "have enough on stock to not care", I would have definitely called back.

Now if I had 1 extra MF towel, I still would have called, but in cases like that you would probably end up keeping it since shipping it back would be costly.

What a day it's been! My day started with the opportunity to keep a free pc............I checked the mail earlier & got a Blockbuster coupon for a free DVD rental..........I went to Wal Mart to get some smokes & when I asked the girl for 3 packs of my "brand of choice" ( usually 3 for $8.50) she handed me 6 packs because they had the buy one get one thing going on. ( 6 packs of smokes for $8.50 ) I then stumbled upon some clearanced high gloss black spray paint for $1.00 a can. ( re painted an old coffee table ) It's been the greatest day ever! (lmao) My free DVD rental turned into "Transporter 2". As I watched it, I couldn't help but notice how deep & wet that black Audi was! I also noticed the black H2 in the movie was swirled to hell!! (lol)

I'm going to go against the crowd and say you should have kept it.

That's the only way for the online dealer to discover and fire incompetence. If you had kept it, accounting would report a variance in inventory, and if this is a pattern, the person who is incompetent is fired. Now that you returned the item, there will be no variance in inventory, and maybe the next mistake will cost the online retailer, $2000 instead of $150. And if you don't think this kind of mistake doesn't happen, you are wrong. I've seen it happen myself, but the mistake was in the tens of thousands of dollars.

Peace.

It never ceases to amaze me the incredible justifications for dishonesty some minds will go through. Most reasonable people would consider keeping that tool dishonest and bordering on thievery. All I can say is what goes around comes around. The key word in today's lesson: integrity. Some people have it and some don't. :(

When it come to inventory shrink issues, I'm well versed on that subject. After all, I'm the Operations Manager for well know company.

My opinion... That's what is wrong with the world today. people find a way to "justify" doing wrong. Instead of thinking how can I right this, they spend the time thinking how can I get something from this.

Send it back! help make this world a better place.

Update: I dropped off the "free pc for me" at the UPS store this morning. It's on it's way back to AutoGeek/Pinnacle as we speak.

Ummm . . . you don't think that calling a company to let them know they made a mistake is a more effective way to make them realize it? Clearly, you're just trying to talk yourself into feeling better about stealing.

What no one has said to this point is that Max from Autogeek/Pinnacle is just a hard working Joe just like you or I trying to make his way in the world. How would you like it if someone walked into your garage and stole your PC? I don't think you would, but that's essentially what we're talking about here. People tend to forget that there are hard working people with families behind the face of every corporation. When you steal from a corporation you're stealing from all those people.

If we were talking about some foam applicators here that would be different because it would cost them more to ship them back than to replace them in inventory. But this is an expensive item.

Not to mention they act like they never make mistakes.

More good news! Meghan from PBMA just emailed me to let me know that once Max was made aware of this situation he decided to provide me with a $100.00 gift certificate valid at the AutoGeek,Pinnacle & Wolfgang sites. That's quite a "thank you", IMO. Clearly exceeded my expectations. Looks like there's more "free stuff" coming to me in the near future.

Many thanks to Max & Meghan at PBMA for your generous offering!
