Tomorrow is the big day....

Yes my daughter is going to school for the first day. I can't believe it... Only yesterday it seems like I was holding her for the first time after she took her first breath.. I believed this was a good thing but now I'm feeling depressed.. No more will we be able to hang out eat a late breakfast and watch PBS together.. There will be time for that after school but the first 4 years went so fast I can't help but think that next week she will be leaving for college. Not only that she will be the youngest in her class she was born on 01/01 so she JUST made the cut otherwise I would be going through this next year.. and I would have another year of time with my daughter.. If only she was born 2 hours later.. Not that she isn't ready she is soo smart.. and really shines.. she will do well and I'm sure will be top of her class. I'm just saddened by my loss..

She's so cute!!! The first day is always the hardest, but in a week's time it will be second nature. Well almost second nature. :)

She's such a bright little charmer, I'm sure she'll adjust just fine!! It's you we're worried about . . . maybe they need a classroom "dad"?? I was a CM for Bryce's first year & it was a great way to keep in the know about all that was going on at the school & it helped to fill those hours til he came home. And the teachers at our school were really grateful for the help. You might want to look into it. :)

And yes, it was just "yesterday" & it will always be!!
 
I am happy for you. IT must be great to be able to be there for her. My son, the Little Detailer, had his first day of school. Although I was not there to see it first hand. My wife did take a few video's of his first day. I have watched the video's numerous times. I am happy for you and jealous all at the same time. Enjoy it!!

I know what you mean. My son had his first day last week. Pre-K.
After being the center of attention for so long, he has to go away for the day.
I will walk him into his class, and he starts crying.....
I can only tell him goodbye and give him a hug as he cry for me to stay. I have to walk fast to the door and shut it behind me so he will stay in the class. Then I turn around to see his teary eyes looking at me through the small glass window on the door.....tears my heart out.... Though, he has to get used to school now. Learn to interact more with other children and learn what the teacher has to offer......

It will be hard for a few more weeks until he is comfortable with everything.
I do go eat luch with ham at school sometimes, and a few of those times, he throws a fit and wants to leave when I have to go.....<sigh>
 
Cute kid...yeah those years go by quick, my oldest starts 2nd grade tomorrow, and it just seems like yesterday was her first trip on a school bus.

Ya steve was the late night call last night.. knowing he went though it twice in one day... and yes they have class room helpers and the teacher is going to get that going next week.
 
Too cute....

We had the unfortunate job of doing this very early on with out child... DAY CARE... Very tough to leave an infant with someone.. but we totally trust our provider and she has done an amazing job. Once he starts school, it will be 2nd nature to him... And he actually enjoys going to Daycare because there are kids there his age he can play with....
Trust me.. she will be fine once she gets used to leaving you....

Oh... and I still watch Boomerang when he's not around... dont tell me wife!

I went through that last year with mine, time flies when we're having fun, and there is the proof.

I'm sure she'll do great

Yes, my shoulder was soaking wet through the phone;)

I went through this after leaving my kids at pre-school at age 2, yet they walked away towards the toys and school stuff without even turning around to say good-bye, the school bus was a breeze..now getting ready for second grade...we just have to remember when "IT'S TIME FOR THE BUS" and who's going :rolleyes:
 
I think it is harder on the parents than it is on the child. I'm sorry but I have to hijack this thread just a tiny bit and tell you what just happened because it was too cute! My 5 year old son, who just started Kindergarten himself, walked by as I was reading this thread just now. As I was scrolling down reading everybody's comments, I came to the picture of your daughter with her back pack and as I scrolled down more, my son just grabbed the mouse out of my hand and scrolled back up to your daughter's picture! lol My son is autistic and he doesn't speak at all, but he was completely enamored with your little princess! He just kept staring at her picture. Believe me, it was really hard for me too sending my little guy off to school. With him not being able to speak I worry all the more because I know he cannot tell me if something is wrong. It was difficult for him his first week. But now he loves school and he loves the bus. I think Norah really hit the nail on the head about talking to the teacher and seeing where you can volunteer in the classroom. That is some sound advice. :) I wish you all the best of luck. :)

Now, to get this thread back on track - good luck to all the DC parents (& grandparents), facing it for the first, fifth or fifteenth time!!

Just wait till she turns 13 and tells you she needs $500 for a complete new school wardrobe. (it'll happen).

bawahahahahahaha ..I guess you haven't met my wife...I have twin 6 year olds and that would only be for the fall...guess why I'm Poorboy :eek::wall:surrender
