TOL paint perfection glaze

GOT PREP?
I must be doing something wrong.

This product is designed to be an easy to use one step.

Here is my problem, it is a BEAR to get off. I applied a very small amount to a meguiars polishing pad on the pC and applied it section by section. I applied it @5 until it almost disappeared, then moved to the next panel. I continued this until the entire car was covered in a VERY thin layer of the product. I then ATTEMPTED to remove it with MF.

This is the first product that I have used that has really worked my arm to the point of fatigue. The only other time was when I was a kid and I applied some turtle wax paste to car in the sun. :(

I actually had to use QD to get the rest of the haze off of the paint.

FWIW, the temp was about 87 with 50-60% humidity. I was in the shade and used just enough to cover each panel.

I can usually make any product work and I am a big believer in reading the directions of a product. I have also learned that when I don't like a product it is typically user error.

Anyone have any pointers with this product? I know Nick uses it...

Here are some pics just becasue we all love pics. :)

Here is the deal with PPG. I have used it and with great results. Use a very small amount of product, which you are already doing. Second, I found that it almost disappears into the paint with a rotary buffer. If you are leaving a layer of it, than you may be using too much. The high heat and humidity does not help at all. That is further more reason to use less product. The other issue may be that your paint is too oxidized for this product. It is much better suited for paint that is in pretty good shape. I hope some of this helps.

OK, thanks. I was using it with the PC and working it until it almost disappered. The directions say to allow it to dry so that is what I did.

I do not like to apply a one step with a rotary, but will give it a try.

The paint was definitely not oxidized.

About a year ago I bought a gallon and had the same problem as you. I had a buddy come over who also is a detailer and he had the same problem. I don't use it anymore. I've been using Stoners Polish and Sealant and the stuff is awesome.

Thanks for the info, at least I am not going crazy!

I guess it is back to PWC or #66.

I find that it is easier to not let it dry completly, despite what the directions say. I feel the wax in it doesn't have to set up completly for it to be effective. It is not bad on a rotary for a 1 step product. It is a breeze on the rotary to use, and it most definatly comes off easier when used with a rotary than the pc IMHO.

That's weird Joe that you had that problem. As per Anothony's suggestion, I bought the gallon for only $24 to give it a whirl. I've probably used it on 19-22 cars now, and haven't ran into that problem before. I've applied by hand, PC, and rotary with different type pads as well. It did "gunk" up on me once, but I think it was because the vehicle surface temperature was hotter than it needed to be. :dunno

Maybe Anthony would have something to say about it. Hard to beat for the price though, especially when it works as it says.

hmmm, thats odd, i dont remember ever having problems with removal of PPG. it hawaii its very hot and humid... hmmm, this weekend ill give it a whirl again to see if the first time was just lucky, and/or to note my process. it sounds like youre doing everything correctly, at least youre doing the same thing that i did?

maybe you forgot to shake it throughly? thats about all i can think of...
