Todd's class on high end detailing at Detail Fest

There have been some really great points made here. High end detailing in my area may never be a popular niche, but after years of hard work, Im seeing more and more people asking into it. I will never see $1000 for a detail in this area, but for me its more about the passion to do the job right and blowing the client away than it is about the money. There arent many high end cars around here, so I deal with daily drivers and the occasional classic or custom car. I wouldnt have it any other way. Not saying that my work is anywhere near the level that many of you are playing on though. I have to admit Ive grown to really respect the super high end work some of you guys produce :)

The middle ground has been a big hurdle. It's very hard to not throw in a full correction when it needs it but not paid for.

No kidding I fight with this everyday, it was so simple when I was rookie, cut polish seal check in the sun, done 5 hours most cars. Now its like cut, check with 40 light sources messure paint 1000 times, polish check with 40 light sources, messure another 1000 times. 5 days later wish for sleep lol.

Excellent points by everybody and this is exactly why (after a lot of thought) the class was tailored in this direction. Not everybody is in the market or has the demographic to support high end cars but there will always be people who place a value on quality and are willing to pay for it. This is why I define high end detailing as putting quality first.

I have seen plenty of high end cars getting trashed at detail shops and fixed several of them, the car doesn't make it high end, the detailing does.
