Today's Z06 Detail

audiboy

Hail the power of Quattro
Today, my buddy and I got the go ahead on detailing my supervisors Z06 again. He doesn't really take care of it at all, so it's always exciting to see what scratches he's induced since the last detail. There were a few problem areas which we were able to greatly improve. The end result disappointed us a bit, but my supervisor was happy.

Wash with Meguiars Deep Crystal
Clay with Pinnacle Poly Clay
Polished with Meguiars #80
Polished with Meguiars #7
Waxed with NXT Liquid Wax

Is it orange or red?

It's red. I guess GM red paint has a tendancy to look orange under certain light. I took the pictures in a rush too, so that didn't help matters much either.

I'm open to all suggestions(good or bad) by the way.

Looks great!

I know what you mean about the paint looking orange under certain light. Our 00 C/K3500 is Victory Red, it looks hot orange under amber street lights!

It's Torch Red. It does tend to look orange in the direct sunlight. It's a way cool color.

Nice job on the vette! :beer

Yeah, torch red, under certain lighting looks really orange.

I don't know how you could be dissapointed with that outcome, that looks better than a set of double-Ds!

Although I assume you are a perfectionist as most of us are, so I can understand that.

That lawn is in trouble!

Looks great. What, exactly, were you disappointed about in the outcome? I know pictures don't always tell the whole story, so I thought I'd try and satisfy my curiosity.

I'd like to take a guess being that I've done 2 C5s.

Being that they have really hard clear coat it's hard to get absolutly every swirl out of the finish without spending many hours polishing. I'm sure afterwards there were a couple swirls left in a couple places-of course nothing major and to a "normal" person the ride looks perfect.

You pretty much got it on the nose. We couldn't get all of the swirls out of there. None of them are excessive, but after six and a half hours, we wanted them all gone. The owner was bragging about it today, so I guess he's pretty happy.

Yeah, that's what I thought

Just remember that most people wont notice what we notice. As long as the customer is happy.
