Todays polishes and waxes

Not sure how to start this so I'll just jump in. I'd like to discuss todays formulations of polishes and waxes. Most of them have oils in them to moisturize the paint and make it shine to prevent clearcoat failure, dulling and easier to wash. Meguiars is big on oils. They have this Trade Secret oil that they use extensively in there compounds, polishes and waxes. The general idea is oils is good for paint to keep it from preventing the above mentioned.

Now let's look at Zaino. Zaino has zero oils in any of there products. Hence why it's optically pure. I've never tried Zaino, maybe someday I will and find out for myself why some people say it's so great. How Zaino gets there paint so wet looking, so rich etc... I don't know, it's got me stumped.

Another fine product line is Menzerna. I don't think Menzerna uses oils in there polishes and waxes. Now I will admit, I don't know too much about Menzerna. Let's just say for conversation sake only here that Menzerna doesn't use oils. Seems as if Menzerna shines alittle better than say Meguiars. If Menzerna doesn't use oils and neither does Zaino, how the hell are these companies getting paint so slick, so shiney and rich depth of color from there formulations. On a side note, is CMA the only company who stocks Menzerna?? Autopia carcare don't have it, autogeek doesn't too name a couple. I think next paycheck, I'll try out some Menzerna for myself. The pictures on CMA's site especially GSRstilez's Integra was enough to make me try some Menzerna.

I am by no means saying oils are bad for paint. I'm simply trying to learn something, that's all. Thanks,,,,,,AR

Bottom line is, all the products you mentioned and others as well, will give you an outstanding shine, but you have to be willing to work for it. The products are nice, but most of us on here are of the belief that it's the process, not the product. People can claim one prodcut is better than the other, but in reality, it's usually the person that's doing the work and their process that distingiuishes the results. The only thing you might get one product over the other is duarablitity, but even that turns into something that's debateable.:)

Premiumautocare.com carries Menzerna also. You can get a 10% discount if you put in "detailcity" in the coupon code section. :)

Chip @ Sportscarcare.com really provides excellent customer service. He's going to be stocking the other items in the standard Menzerna USA line like the QD once it's time for him to reorder. Also very reasonable shipping prices.

In answer to your question, I believe Menzerna polishes contain very fine abrasives to cut your paint down and make it more smooth on a more microscopic level (or at least a level not visibile to the eye). This is how they are able to make the paint shine so well. Like sanding a block of rough wood. The paint is then burnished to a high gloss without the use of oils. Not really sure how this works, so maybe someone else can explain.
