Today's detail v. dirty mats, lots of pics

thanks to those of you with "positive" comments.



i used up some armor all tire foam and i applied it 2x's so that the tires looked wet. by that time, i was spent, and i figured it would sling off anyways, not to mention it looked like serios rain.



it took me about 5 hours. the truck could use another 3 hours or so. only this about SUVs i do not like is that damn roof. pain in the ***.

I wasnt aware that text had "tone". gav's, I realize that some interiors are beyond what consumer grade equipment can handle. The interior is vastly improved but I feel that no "stripes" are better than crooked irregular ones.
 
a couple more "replies" to posts,



i do not solely use the LGCM for full out cleaning. i always make a bucket of the cleaning water, then scrub the hell out of the mats and carpets prior to extracting the dirty water. I will look into that pre-treating product.



i need to get some simple green or something like that for the door sills, once again the grease made it's mark and i could not get rid of it.



with the wheels, i'm sure some of you have noticed that wheels nowadays are not all necessarily chrome. these wheels as others have an aluminum wheel behind the "plastic" like chrome "hubcap" i did not want to use a metal or chrome polish, just in case it marred the wheels. alittle more sonus rim brite should take care of the caked on brake dust that is left. examples of these "chrome wheels" - the 99 and up grand ams are like this, and the wider grand cherokee 5 star is like this as well ( i work in a chrysler jeep service dept and know these for sure )

well, next time i'll get out the ruler and make sure that they are all neat and even.



why don't you post up some pics of cars that you have done.

Wow, I see you're not appreciative of any kind of criticism so I'll respond to you no more. I do however see the "tone" that GoodnClean spoke of is very apparent in your post.

Regarding me posting photos: I never felt the need. I'm not looking for a pat on the back or an ego stroke. Its just detailing. I do it every day. I enjoy it and theres alot of money to be made and thats it.

I agree, or the lack of replies some get. I guess its not worth posting the work only to get a few replies.



Gav' - Great work! Huge Improvement. I applaud you for tackling those mats.

You made an unnecessarily harsh (and frankly, pretty ignorant) comment. Get the chip off your shoulder. You, I, and everyone else reading this knows you were attempting to be condescending with your original post. If you don't have anything positive to contribute, then don't post at all.



Now that that's out of the way, back on topic.



gav: Nice job, the improvement is easily noticeable. At least the owner of the vehicle appreciated the work, that's all that matters in the end. I personally like the look of a striped carpet, it gives an interior a freshly detailed look, and I've always received compliments when I've done it.

i think people post pics to give others an idea of how well products work. for someone just starting out or just now finding the whole other world of detailing and products on the net would come here to look for some results.



i'm happy that you do it everyday, and yes there is money to be made. i guess this guy was willing to pay for a "sub-par" job.



maybe when he is in your neck of the woods in the future, he'll get perfect stripes. and yes "tone" is a great thing, i'll always have something to say back.

i just noticed, may of 01 you registered and you have how many posts ??? you do not need to be a post whore but i would think, with as much "constructive criticism" that you have to offer, you sure don't post up :rolleyes:
 
Adamah - It is often hard to tell emotion in text as it can be hard to get across. However you've managed to do very well. I had no trouble getting what you meant in your post. Glad to see you've now gotten the hang of that "tone" thing. Where are you located so I can refer a lot of business your way?



General Lee - Very true. I did a post once of a detail and got all of two replies. That's why I appreciate when other people take the time to prepare a post and show us the techniques and products that make a vehicle look great. The least we as members can do is thank them and applaud their efforts making at least one more car or truck clean and polished!



To some of us this isn't just a way to make money. We enjoy it and it's more than a job.

Nothing edgy here.... I just dont understand how people can make "some" post like "you should have done it this way or that way". Regardless it didnt come out perfect but it did come out very well. I just dont see anyone making comments to the more common posters on this site. And i see this ALL the time.





I guess its just me ive been here a while and now am noticing more and more new users on this site. Even though we all take detailing to the extreme no one ever tells the more popular posters anything like that... I guess its just me.:nixweiss
