Any readings after you were done polishing? Is Audi clear really that hard?

Panels that I knew had a good amount of thickness left I probably removed about 5-8microns and the panels that I knew werent too thick I probably removed around 2-3 microns. A very general measure says there is about 40-50 microns of clear coat on vehicles. The deep polishing I did was to give the vehicle a fresh start/finish. The owner found me on this site and I will suspect he will be giving it the autopian treatment as long as he owns the car. The roof for example was reading low as 85 microns left in most areas. FPII with quick passes barely removes 1 micron. SO, i opted not to deep polish the roof like I did with other panels.

The paint gauge in this example became a critical tool. Imagine if I had not taken paint measurements and deep polished the roof!!!! I would have taken off the remaining clear coat leading to paint failure. The paint gauge saved me from having a very unhappy customer and paying to have the roof resprayed.

Great job Chris. Nice to see you're staying busy during the winter months. I've been slow for the last 3-4 weeks. :tumblewee

I find on hard clears EC/OP with a yellow leaves very little haze. The fact that EC and a yellow left hardly any marring proves how hard the clear is.

Keep up the great work! :xyxthumbs

Bioman - The rotary I use is the Makita with 6.5 inch Lake Coutry Pads

John - Not really staying busy since that is the first detail in like 3 weeks lol. I figured just as much with temps dropping and the holidays coming up. Cant wait till spring when I will truely be busy. Until then my rotary is going to feel lonely! :(

The pic below to tell the truth was just after EC/Yellow without doing the FPII step yet.
