So, I got a chance to finally wash my truck and was going to polish in order to get ready for winter. I pulled out my rotary after washing and claying, and it wouldn't start up. I thought I blew a fuse in the panel box or tripped a breaker. Nothing!!!!!!

I had to take it to the Makita service center and it will take a week because of the backlog of repairs waiting.

I'm going to buy a second rotary as a back up!:2thumbs::2thumbs::2thumbs:

That's a bummer. I had my rotory give out on me when I was half way done with a car on my first pass using a wool pad. The cord area near the handle wasn't making good contact anymore so I had to take it in for repair. I thought about buying a back up as well.

That reminds me, I need to get my Porter Cable rotary in for servicing so I have it as a back up for my Dewalt.

Sorry to hear about your problem.

Did you muck around with it at all? Seems like 95% of the time when a Makita doesn't run at all it's either a cord issue, or the carbon brushes. Probably the cord, just a thought.

Yes, I messed around with it and it was the cord. What a pain in the butt!
